At kununu, Data Science plays a key role in shaping our products, processes, and strategic decisions. As Team Lead Data Science, you will take end-to-end responsibility for the direction, impact, and quality of Data Science across the company, while driving its technological vision forward.

This role combines people leadership, hands-on technical expertise, and strategic thinking. You will work closely with Product, Engineering, Sales, and Executive Management, acting as a trusted sparring partner and ambassador for Data Science. Beyond leading and developing the function, you will help define how Data Science creates measurable business value and influences company-wide priorities. 

The gross annual salary for this position ranges between €80,000 and €90,000, depending on qualifications and experience.

Your Tasks

• Lead and develop the Data Science function with a strong focus on impact, quality, and scalability

• Define and drive the strategic and technological vision for Data Science at kununu

• Take end-to-end ownership of Data Science outcomes, priorities, and quality standards, ensuring alignment with company strategy and measurable business impact

• Position Data Science as a key enabler for product development, business growth, and operational excellence, including internal and cross-functional processes

• Act as a senior interface between Data Science, Product, Engineering, Sales, and Executive Management

• Advance the use of machine learning, predictive models, recommendation systems, and LLM-based solutions

• Balance strategic leadership with hands-on involvement, providing technical guidance and coaching where needed

• Foster agile, autonomous teams aligned with company-wide goals

• Lead complex discussions with clarity, confidence, and a solution-oriented mindset

Your Skills

• Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field or equivalent practical experience

• 5+ years of professional experience in Data Science or a similar role

• Strong experience in leading teams and shaping data-driven organizations

• Solid technical foundation in Machine Learning, predictive modelling, and modern AI systems

• Experience with cloud-first data and ML platforms and scalable architectures

• Proven ability to translate complex data topics into business impact and strategic decisions

• Strong stakeholder management skills, including collaboration with senior and executive leaders

• Strategic mindset combined with the ability and willingness to dive deep into technical topics

• Fluent in English (German is a plus)

• Based in Austria and willingness to work on-site in Vienna on a regular basis
