Inefficient recruiting procedure
Verbesserungsvorschläge
The whole interview process takes several weeks including four interview rounds and two additional informal meetings. All meetings except for the last one were in a very convenient atmosphere. Before the last round I received a sample contract. It seemed that the company was willing to hire me. At least this is what a managing partner communicated in an informal meeting a few days before the final round. Other than the previous rounds, the atmosphere in the final round was quite unrelaxed.
The day after I received a phone call in which I was informed about my rejection. The reason was the lack of clarity of my answers to some basic (non-technical) questions. Apparently, I might have digressed to much from the actual questions. It is a bit disappointing to hear such kind of reason for a rejection after *four* rounds. Looking back, I would have preferred to get kicked out after the first round.
Bewerbungsfragen
- Many standard questions were asked such as the strength, weaknesses and why Oepfelbaum should hire me. None of the questions were difficult to answer.
- The standard more or less. Some of the interviewers asked me whether my background might be too technical or specific for their company.
- During the technical interview an algorithmic puzzle were given first. Afterwards I was asked to "model" specific scenarios as a function with one parameter. The questions were not super hard, but one certainly has to think.
- "Are you a good programmer?" Unfortunately, they did not appreciate that I answered specifically instead of saying "Yes" or "No" immediately.
