Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich

Work is varied, usually interesting and provides learning opportunities. The best people here are very very good.

Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich

Partner-driven working practices. Corporate deafness regarding salary levels (which is the main reason I would not recommend working here to a friend).

Verbesserungsvorschläge

Revisit "tone from the top" and values applied in daily work, especially by leadership.

Arbeitsatmosphäre

Generally, OK. The overall level of planning is quite poor, even considering the nature of the work. Decision-making is very top-down (i.e. Partner-driven) leading to inconsistent experiences depending on the character of the Partner you work with.

Kommunikation

Internal communications is a disaster! The communications tool is set up like social media so you need to subscribe to hundreds of pages to get all the relevant info. Lots of effort is dedicated to "wellbeing" while important stuff (salary, working hours) is not addressed except to say "all is good".

Kollegenzusammenhalt

Generally, good, friendly and helpful colleagues. Arrogance levels ("Let me tell you how to do your job") are above average compared with other professional services organisations I have worked for. Maybe this is due to frustration.

Work-Life-Balance

Depends very much on the Partner you work with (for). Partners are often a bottleneck as they have different priorities to their team members. They expect everyone to work the same way they do. If you depend on a Partner's input, you can spend many unproductive hours waiting for it. If a Partner works on Saturday, you can expect to have to work on Sunday .

Vorgesetztenverhalten

Highly variable. The best are a pleasure to work with. Others are arrogant, spoiled egomaniacs. I give 2 stars because of the unpredictable nature of leadership. A values-driven firm should not depend on the mood swings of its leaders.

Interessante Aufgaben

Definitely. Rich and varied.

Gleichberechtigung

Possibly it is talked about more than it is done. Example: the Zürich Office building is not well set up for disable persons.

Umgang mit älteren Kollegen

There is no open age discrimination. The system (promos, training, etc.) is "one size fits all" and targets younger employees. There is no special focus on the needs or constraints of older employees.

Arbeitsbedingungen

Slow, slow, slow laptops.

Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein

The firm talks about this a lot. It makes some decent efforts (recycling, etc.). Really impactful measures would need it to rethink its list of clients. I give it 4 stars for awareness and self publicity.

Gehalt/Sozialleistungen

Not a generous employer and hides behind a smokescreen of "industry averages" and other so called benchmarks. The firm relies on its name and prestige to recruit. Bonuses for those under Manager grade is minimalist. Manager and above must work an extra 200 hours per year or the bonus is cut (although we are told that bonus and overtime have been separated!).

Image

Average. I have worked for other organisations where employees had more pride in their employer.

Karriere/Weiterbildung

It is a prestigious firm with a lot of top clients. I am sure you can learn a lot here that is useful afterwards. Or you will be so disappointed by the downside that you give up and change career.

Thank you very much for your differentiating feedback. Though it’s sad to read that you feel you cannot recommend PwC as an employer, I appreciate your time spent for this review. I was glad to learn that you value the interesting work and numerous learning opportunities. And I absolutely agree with you - we have many strong and inspirational colleagues at PwC! Still, I am sorry that you experience several aspects of your work rather negatively. I take your feedback seriously and want to better understand some aspects, especially with regards to leadership, that were not as clear for me. To do so, I would like to propose a personal exchange and look forward to hearing from you. You can reach me via michaela.christian.gartmann@pwc.ch.

Kind regards
Michaela Christian Gartmann
