Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich

I would recommend PwC offices abroad with more opportunities for development. Depending on your basis of comparison you can also have a good exposure to senior management, but not as much as when you are working in HQs of multinationals.

Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich

Lack of transparency, antiquated mentality, overworking young staff

Verbesserungsvorschläge

Get rid of the antiquated mentality - clients want a fresh spirit as well and above all, quality. Focus on getting experienced people that do know and have the expertise. Selling and lying to clients is a short-term solution and is not sustainable in the long run. Being fake and overselling yourself is mostly pushing clients further away. Staying genuine, competent and aware of yourself and your surroundings is much more appreciated.

Arbeitsatmosphäre

Everyone is stressed and overly worked. The atmosphere used to be a bit better couple of years ago, but those who remained in management and as supervisors are taking a lot of pride in promoting values that not only are detrimental to the work atmosphere but to the business as well. They take a lot of pride in having everyone in their teams overworked and overly challenged, thinking that this is consulting. Most likely they heard this from the big names in consulting but the point is that you also need to have a sense in doing so and clients with really challenging international projects, which is not the case for PwC Oerlikon. Definitely the management functions after the motto that if your people look and feel lousy then they must be working really hard and bring money, which is definitely not the case.

Kommunikation

Very top down and mentality of old boys' club. Outdated leadership that promotes the same values like in the last century when it comes to communication and transparency.

Kollegenzusammenhalt

If you are likeable and personable then it is easier to make friends among your peers. Be careful however not to make yourself too liked by the clients, because senior management does not like when you shine more than them. It is however impossible to network at different levels. Again, the old boys' club mentality comes into play.

Work-Life-Balance

I would say it is normal for a consulting firm, however, again after several years in PwC and in the industry, I do not consider PwC Zürich a true consulting office. It is obviously an audit firm. Therefore, the lack of work-life balance is not justifiable when you compare it with the big names in consulting services industry.

Interessante Aufgaben

It is not what you would expect from a consulting firm. I would say if you have the chance go work in HQs of multinationals as you get much more exposure to senior management and challenging projects or indeed, consulting is what you want aim higher than PwC.

Gleichberechtigung

Almost no professional development and career opportunities for women that also want to have or have children. I mean look how many female partners are in Switzerland. I believe that this is by far the biggest issue of PwC in Switzerland. Things don't have to be so harsh and overly exaggerated in terms of workload. This does not guarantee more money in the pockets but guarantees a bad reputation as an employer and ultimately a bad reputation in front of the clients.

Umgang mit älteren Kollegen

Which ones? Diversity and Inclusion is a trend that was adopted long time ago by the industry and most big names in consulting, PwC is again lagging behind. Most employees are very young with little experience. Of course, at senior level the situation is different. However who gets in touch with the top levels - not the mortals from lower floors.

Arbeitsbedingungen

IT and HR are really laughable and come to think PwC offers advisory to others on IT system integration and HR. The office location is ok, but tough with parking.

Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein

Given that it is part of a wide network of consulting practices, there is a spillover effect in terms of values promoted internally, but they remain somehow like this hanging in the air - no one really cares as you need to bring Quantity and not Quality at the table.

Gehalt/Sozialleistungen

Ok salaries for mid- and upper levels

Image

In the industry PwC has a good reputation when it comes to audit and financial services, but not so much when it comes to consulting services and this I can say from own experience that I had as a client and as an employee of the company. It is definitely a case for change. If indeed you want to be recognized as a consulting company outside of the tax/ finance sphere, then invest more in the people you bring in and raise the barriers higher when it comes to competencies and education of your candidates. Do not take into account only those that can sell. This is not what is working long-term.

Karriere/Weiterbildung

There are some possibilities for career development and trainings, but who has the energy and the power when you are overworked in a nonsensical way

Thank you for your differentiating feedback. We take your voice seriously, also as a means to continuously assess what works well and where improvement is required.

Your views on our IT and HC structures are rather high-level and nor comprehensible to me. Therefore, I invite you to join a personal discussion so that I can better understand your observations and identify areas which require improvement. My contact is michaela.christian.gartmann@pwc.ch.
