The only aspect that I consider potentially improvable is the duration of the application process. Since I submitted my application in August 2023, I found the process to be relatively lengthy.

  • I had the pleasure of applying for a position at Tillotts Pharma AG and would like to share my experiences in the Kununu application process.
  • Throughout the entire application process, I was always well-informed about what the next steps would entail. This transparent communication helped me prepare effectively for each stage. I was truly impressed by the pleasant, even familial atmosphere that pervaded all of our interactions. The fact that I had the opportunity to speak not only with the HR team but also with my prospective manager, the department head, and a future team member created a welcoming and inclusive environment. The interviews, including informal discussions in the break room, were incredibly enjoyable. I highly appreciated the respectful informal culture that was evident during our conversations, which is clearly a part of your company's ethos. This immediately made me feel welcome and allowed for relaxed discussions.
  • In the first interview, it was evident that the focus was on assessing professional competence. The questions and discussions were tailored to the requirements of the position, making the process very professional. The second interview, which lasted for 3.5 hours, was particularly challenging and insightful. I was given the opportunity to solve an authentic task and prepare and present a real-world scenario. The feedback I received was open and honest, which I greatly appreciated. Following this, I had the chance to get to know the entire team in a coffee chat, providing me with a glimpse into the company culture.
  • The entire recruitment process was conducted in a professional manner. I always had the opportunity to ask questions and received comprehensive and helpful responses. I remain very interested in joining your company and look forward to learning more about the next steps.
  • In conclusion, I found the application process at your company to be positive and professional. I am excited about the possibility of working together and hope that the process will continue successfully. Thank you for this valuable experience.

Für mich gibt es hier kaum Verbesserungsvorschläge. Sämtliche beteiligte Personen waren sehr sympathisch und Rückmeldungen sowie Antworten auf Nachfragen erfolgten immer sehr zeitnah. Die nächsten Schritte wurden gut kommuniziert, sodass man stets wusste, wie weit der Prozess fortgeschritten war und was als nächstes folgte.

Die Interviews wurden mehr als gegenseitiges Kennenlernen gestaltet, um das Interesse und die generelle Geeignetheit für die Position zu ergründen, statt generische "was sind Ihre Stärken- und Schwächen"-Fragen zu stellen.

Speak to candidates respectfully, and their personal lives aren’t relevant.

Weird comment at the beginning by my interviewer that she was married with a child. Perhaps she knows that I am a lesbian from social media or other means and felt uncomfortable around me. It’s the first time that this has ever come up in a job interview.

Some moments that were so condescending that it was hard not to laugh, like telling me where the location of the company was (a town that I have visited numerous times) and telling me that it was not near to my flat (I worked this out by myself, cheers).

The whole thing was just so ... odd. I can’t help feeling that there was something more to why the manager was so unfriendly towards me. I was very upset at first, but I’ll be laughing about her rude behaviour for a long time to come. I think the interview will certainly be memorable.

The process was absolutely fine outside of the interview, totally normal application process. I had high hopes before I got into it!

Bewerbungsfragen

  • There were remarkably few questions about my knowledge, experience or even suitability for the role. A few questions about manufacturing tablets. I was straight (pun unintended) with them that it wasn’t my area of expertise but that I would do my best to answer. I think I answered this mostly correctly.
  • Questions about past experience, with the same unfriendly, arrogant and disrespectful undertone. I chose different internships and short term contracts to get a good sense of where to take my career, as encouraged by my university (one of the top universities in the country, with a great reputation for student employability).
  • The interviewers kept going over and over this and attempting to pick me apart even though I explained it several times. They told me that they were scared that I would leave after a year.
  • I feel that this might indicate that the company has an issue with staff retention that they were unfairly projecting onto me.
  • My questions weren’t answered, or the interviewers answered a different question - either they didn’t understand due to their level of proficiency in English, or chose to hear what they wished. It might be indicative of deeper communication issues. Funnily enough, my question was asked in relation to intra-workplace communication.
  • I asked for detail on the products, expecting to hear something about their *manufacture* and instead was told to look at the website (which says next to nothing on the subject, hence my question).
  • Comments that I might return to my home country. This seems unlikely, given the amount of effort I have put into working on my German/Swiss German while in Switzerland. This was said by someone who was themself from a different country and could theoretically return to her home country at any time, but the irony was apparently lost on her. It did make me wonder whether it was anything to do with my nationality more specifically.
  • Interview was cut short after 1 h after they apparently got bored of trashing my experience and qualifications.
  • I messaged the company head to give my feedback before I was provided with any. If the day to day operation is like the interview, then I’m glad not to work there - I want to come to work with a smile on my face.

First of all, thank you for sharing your experience with us and I am sorry to hear that the interview was not successful.
A couple of months ago you contacted me directly through LinkedIn, inquiring whether we would have an open position that fits your experience (as outlined in your CV). You can imagine that we get over 1000 job applications per year, yet my colleagues took the effort & time, studied carefully your CV and invited you to an interview. Frankly speaking, to write then so disrespectfully about our company and our employees I found very disappointing!
I was not at the interview and hence I can not comment on your various allegations, but I know how interviews are conducted at Tillotts and your view of the interview differs a lot of the high standard we do have.

At the end of the day, the aim of any interview at Tillotts, is to understand whether the candidate possess the needed expertise and is capable & willing to further develop with the job respectively with the company.

By the way, to ask about your experience and your past are standard in Switzerland. Most important, all these questions help us to see if a candidate fits to our companies’ CULTURE, which – according to our own employees - is open-minded, respectful and diverse. The way you write about Tillotts proves to me that some of these points obviously are not met.
