Flexible time and good benefits - but lots of fluctuation and chaos, too.

Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich

+ FlexWork (from remote or from other locations) is accepted
+ Good salaries and outstanding long-term benefits
+ Good job/industry image to the outside (except to some people who know of Zurich's internal chaos)
+ Change also means chances for some... career rotation and new opportunities, as long as you play the game and contribute to the current mission without questioning

Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich

- Lots of reorganization(s), people are informed about them from the media (or not at all... but suddenly two of your friends are gone overnight)
- Chaotic approach to almost everything, with ping-pong responsibility
- Unclear decision making: why are there up to 4 lines of management, in the same meetings, from the same chain of command -- no idea who decides, everyone's busy "aligning" themselves with each other
- Huge and glacier-slow steering committees who are busy with themselves. Org charts on projects have 1-2 developers and 20 "Involved managers" of all kinds
- Nothing changes since nothing has to change - protected industry, long-term customers, so the best bet for many is to do exactly nothing (no new systems, no breakthroughs, no significant evolution).
- Main element of current strategy cycle is cost cutting, the rest is fluff. Cost cutting is awesome for shareholders, but painful and limiting for employees.

Verbesserungsvorschläge

* More personal responsibility and accountability (is currently on all slides but isn't really lived in reality)
* Less SteerCos and endless alignment cycles (a straightforward decision can take months and involve external consultancies)
* Decide finally what is the right way forward, and stay with it. Currently even the CEO's agenda is "watered down" many times down the chain of command.
* Be much more precise at decisions, communication, ownership, etc.
