- I'd begin a consistent training program for new hires. I'd require written notification from the field regarding discipline and discharge of employees. I'd require a defined chart of responsibility where each individual in the company's management teamis named along with their duties and powers.
This is actually a group of companies all owned by one man and run by him and his oldest two sons. His daughter and youngest son also work in the family businesses which include the drywall company, a convenience store, a small dine in/carry out restaurant, a self-storage facility, several ATMs and numerous rental properties.
These folks treat their employees as part of the family - I get invited to thanksgiving dinners and christmas breakfasts not to mention the grandkids' birthday parties! The owneris also understanding when an employee has health or family issues and allows for time off and even loans if needed.
The actual work environment is a fun, upbeat one where trust is freely given. Not to say that they are push-overs. Don't take advantageof them and they'll take care of you. The work itself is diverse so there's no getting bored! I would strongly recommend this company to anyone looking for a job.
My only complaint is that there is a lack of consistency - in discipline, between father and son, in hiring practices, in training and in record-keeping.
