Cluno
Bewertung

Cool idea, but serious flaws in Cluno's leadership, setup and mindset!

Wofür möchtest du deinen Arbeitgeber im Umgang mit der Corona-Situation loben?

The only good thing here was that Cluno anticipated the Corona crisis quite early and took some measurements.

Was macht dein Arbeitgeber im Umgang mit der Corona-Situation nicht gut?

If you put people on short time work, do it in a solidary way. Don't use Corona to get rid of people in probation or to blindside "unliked" employees!

Wie kann dich dein Arbeitgeber im Umgang mit der Corona-Situation noch besser unterstützen?

Don't try to "force" people back to the office if they prefer staying home and work remotely.

Arbeitsatmosphäre

Exceptionally good in my team, because we took care of it ourselves. In general, the atmosphere mostly consists of mistrust, demands and stress. Cluno is becoming more and more a sales-led company instead of a product-/tech-driven one. It's not about the customer (although everybody says that), it's about selling/marketing cars. That leads to very few people (leadership, C-Level) deciding what's to be done instead of everyone contributing to the success of the company. Cluno behaves like a typical VC-fueled start-up, that is trying to make their investors happy.

Kommunikation

Good efforts (weekly all-hands and show&tells), but nothing is really ever said in those formats. All teams feel forced to give a weekly update on what they are working on, which is barely relevant for others in most cases. It feels like having to justify for what is being done. Apart from that, general management gives motivational speeches that no one understands.

Kollegenzusammenhalt

Due to the lack of proper leadership, colleagues are mostly really supportive and helpful. They stick together and try to make it work. Especially in my team, colleagues have been incredibly awesome. But there is also some bashing and blaming going on unfortunately, probably due to the high stress level in many teams.

Work-Life-Balance

I had no issue with balancing work and life, but in other teams, the working hours are really high. Working overtime is implicitly expected and not appreciated in any way.

Vorgesetztenverhalten

With very few exceptions, leadership, C-Level and general management are seriously lacking both professional as well as people management skills. You can clearly see that general management has been working in the automotive industry for a long time. Very strong hierarchies, demanding instead of empowering, control instead of trust. No responses to emails/messages and no support with blockers in any way. Leadership is mostly taking care of themselves. The bigger Cluno got, the more this became obvious. Lots of politics going on. Cluno has no real vision, nor a strategy to execute a vision or someone trusted to come up with a strategy. Very disappointing experience.

Interessante Aufgaben

Working on a first-mover product in a new market is always interesting and challenging. However, given the circumstances, Cluno is super slow and it takes a lot of debating and politics to get features or improvements on the road.

Gleichberechtigung

Not really. Random promotions, salary gaps and personal likings. At least 2 women in C-Level.

Umgang mit älteren Kollegen

No complaints. Very few colleagues above 50, but they are treated like everyone else.

Arbeitsbedingungen

State-of-the-art hardware, but the office is too small by now and really noisy. Cluno is supposed to be moving in June so that should be good.

Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein

Not existent. There's nothing being done in that area.

Gehalt/Sozialleistungen

Exceptionally good in my case, really poor in other teams. So either awesome or under average.

Image

Not that good among customers. There are many complaints about how complicated and restrictive Cluno is when it comes to handling non-standard cases. On the other hand, it got better overtime. Image is also really good in the automotive industry, where quite some companies are impressed by what Cluno is doing.

Karriere/Weiterbildung

Promotions at Cluno are purely about job titles. If you're looking for a real career, you not gonna find it here. Personal development is completely up to you and whether your superior supports it. It is possible to go to conferences or workshops though, but budget is quite limited.

Arbeitgeber-Kommentar

Dear former colleague,

We want to start by thanking you for your contribution to Cluno's growth. It is sad for us when things are not working out. All the best for your next career step.

We understand that not every management decision will be well received by all of our employees, even if we would love that. Please let us assure you that no decision is ever taken lightly. You mentioned e.g. the decision to start short time work. This topic led to intense discussions within the leadership team because it is one of many management decisions you do not make easily. We are very happy that after only four weeks, we were able to end short time work again because after a brief dip during the begin of the lock down our business is now recovering.

Again: thank you for everything and all the best.
