Bewertung

Overall a good company to work for, but with some typical start-up growing pains.

Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich

- Work life balance. We had tons of freedom to structure our own workdays
- The current office is really nice.

Verbesserungsvorschläge

- Different bonus structure (for the sales teams at least)
- Look for ways to keep employees more engaged. By nature sales can become a bit repetitive after a while, so training/ coaching and better structured career planning can help with this.
- Hire more sales people for the sales positions. Don't hire (too many) ex-consultants to do sales.

Arbeitsatmosphäre

In a fast growing company it's always difficult to keep everybody happy. Some people expect way too much from the company and don't really reflect on their own performance.

Kommunikation

Good not great. For me it was never really an issue.

Kollegenzusammenhalt

Most of the people I directly worked with were great. Obviously you don't always get along with everybody, but in general I worked with some pretty good people.

Work-Life-Balance

This was one of the best things. We had a lot of freedom to plan our own workdays and business trips.

Vorgesetztenverhalten

This could be better, but depends on the department you're in. I worked for the BeNeLux business development team and we had an issue with sales targets that we felt were set too high. This was quite demotivating for the team and in the end we didn't come close to the target and missed out on our bonuses. The way the target was set and the support we got trough out the year was not how it should be and didn't help our performance. To be fair it wasn't all managements wrong doing, because both as a team and individually we could have definitely performed better. The way it was structured was just not really motivating and supportive. Room for improvement on this one.

Interessante Aufgaben

The clients you work with are definitely interesting and high level. After a while tho it becomes a bit repetitive. This is not something Comatch could do much about, since this is often the case in sales. By nature it becomes a bit of the same over time, so I guess this depends on your personal preference.

Arbeitsbedingungen

The office itself is really nice. It looks great and there's a Gym in the same building. The only thing that should be improved is the ventilation and AC. It gets too hot in summer. Overall I'd be very happy work in an office like that again in the future.

Gehalt/Sozialleistungen

Not too bad for Berlin standards and if you perform well there's always room to renegotiate. The bonus structure is a bit unpractical, but after employee feedback I think they will restructure that in 2020.

Image

After I made the decision to leave I interviewed at a few different companies. I can honestly say that they were all pretty impressed by what we had achieved as a company and the overall company appearance. Apparently other companies have a favorable view of Comatch and I think this is the best way to judge the image.

Karriere/Weiterbildung

I feel this is the biggest issue they need to work on. With the rapid growth that they had I fully understand that it's very difficult to roll out a structured learning and development plan and clear career planning. The lack of learning opportunities and personal growth was one of the main reason for me to look for a new challenge and I know I wasn't alone in this. The good news is that you can tell that they are making a top priority out of this (rolled-out internal training sessions and hired a L&D manager). For me this was too little too late and there's a long road ahead, but at least they are working on it.
