I only have a mini-job, working 2x 6-hour shifts per week, assembling the bicycles for sale in the store etc., I don't get the impression that there is no possibility of further career opportunities for me there, as I'm probably twice the age of anyone else working there. I was asked 6 weeks ago several times if I would like to work longer hours, I immediately said "yes", but I have received absolutely no feedback, despite asking, the subject has now been quietly forgotten - but this is usual for working in Germany, no one ever gives a direct answer (I've lived in Berlin now for 30 years, I have plenty of experience of this phenomena) - I really enjoy working for fahrrad.de, the work is interesting, and the colleagues friendly and helpful, I would welcome it if my 6-month contract there were extended.
It's very noticeable though, that it's an almost completely male working environment, the only female there seems to be the cleaner, who works just 2 hours a week there, and she's a Filipino.
