Ok for a time...
Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich
Smart people, product used by a lot of people, good engineering culture.
Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich
Salary, RSUs, career advancement, policies on remote work/work from overseas etc, management, new hires paid more than existing employees with more experience, high employee turnover, benefits aren't that great, on-call can be annoying.
Verbesserungsvorschläge
You can't polish a turd, but you can roll it in glitter. Stop just acting like you're different and progressive and actually be progressive and different.
Arbeitsatmosphäre
People are nice and smart, but management isn't great. Things were better in person but since home office started things have been frustrating.
The company wants to be seen as cool and different, but its just another bank.
Kommunikation
There's lots of talk, but a lot of it doesn't really communicate much. Then one day you'll suddenly learn your domain has some new goal and your team will need to drop what it's doing to support this.
Kollegenzusammenhalt
The people here are normally really smart and helpful. Definitely one of the reasons to come here.
Work-Life-Balance
Generally good. But you will be required to do an on call rotation. If you have upstream external dependencies that go down this can be super annoying, waking you up at night.
Interessante Aufgaben
Probably heavily dependent on your team. While in general there's a lot of cool tech, you are likely to be focused on one feature in your team, and this can become boring after a year or so.
Arbeitsbedingungen
Generally you get all the tech and software you need. After 2 years of pandemic they finally introduced a home office allowance, but it's only 400 euro per year. So after tax you really can't buy anything decent quality.
Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein
They talk a big game about climate change and do consider it. But then they go and do something completely contradictory, like send out a 'summer gift' of 100s of plastic Beach balls in November to engineers in Germany.
Gehalt/Sozialleistungen
Below par salary. Very hard to get promotion or a decent salary adjustment. Moving towards a model where they want to be paying you a big chunk of money in RSUs that take years and years to vest. Not good.
Image
A lot of people who have spent any significant time there know the frustrations and the company has a very high turnover for this reason.
Karriere/Weiterbildung
They say you can take time to learn and they will definitely pay for courses etc. The problem I found was there was never dedicated time for this, so if I had tasks I would simply never get around to the self study.
