There are no real no-gos and if there were, I feel like I could start tackling them myself.

Verbesserungsvorschläge

It feels like Netlight is growing a lot in recent times. Would be a pity if it goes too fast and the culture or spirit is somewhat suffering from it.

Arbeitsatmosphäre

love to go to the office. Colleagues are positive, appreciating, motivated. In the beginning this can feel a bit fake, until you realise that it is actually genuine. Of course, this can differ at client's, but most of the time clients working with Netlight have a somewhat similar atmosphere.

Kommunikation

Decisions and updates are communicated regularly and transparent. Communication between different teams is good. In Slack, the main communication tool, it can become a bit unstructured.

Kollegenzusammenhalt

Most colleagues are actively supporting each other, giving feedback, answering questions. A lot of colleagues I've met have made friends at Netlight.

Work-Life-Balance

If you really want, you could pretty much stick to the 40-hour-week. However, if you want to build a network, educate yourself and I guess also make a career you gotta put in a few extra hours.

Vorgesetztenverhalten

Officially there are no direct bosses. However, I would say there is a tight-knit network of steering of more senior colleagues. This can help a lot in the beginning, but I feel like from time to time that can be too intrusive (compared to what was communicated in the interviews). I guess this becomes less of a thing as you become more senior.

Interessante Aufgaben

Of course, this highly depends on the project. Though, you have a more or less influence on the projects you want to work on (depending on the economic situation). This is a big plus for me, as I experienced at previous employers getting shifted around on boring projects without proper fit. Thus, projects are usually quite interesting and technologies used are most of the time state-of-the-art.

Gleichberechtigung

There is always room for improvement, but I think Netlight is on the forefront of equality. Female ratio is above average for IT and there are lot of initiatives for improving the current situation. Sexist behaviour or speech is ostracized, locker room talk not happening (from my experience). Haven't heard anything about obstacles when reentering after pregnancy yet though, but I would be really astonished if that should be a problem.

Umgang mit älteren Kollegen

Older colleagues working at Netlight are most of the time in more senior positions and logically their opinion has weight. I see no difference in the behaviour between younger and older colleagues with each other. Cannot really tell if older colleagues who do not climb the ladder are kind of pushed out or leave voluntarily at some point.

Arbeitsbedingungen

Equipment can be ordered according to your needs and any specifics (like ergonomic keyboard or what not) usually no problem or bureaucratic effort. Feel really happy with the additional equipment now in remote-working-times. Office just got refurbished, is well-designed, nice roof-top, the equipment you would expect.

Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein

Really happy with that. Train first, veggie first, annual CO2 compensation for employees and every flight, support of social initiatives and NGOs if there is time. Though I feel there is sometimes a spread between ambition and reality, like the spring summit, where potentially all Netlighters fly to an unknown destination.

Gehalt/Sozialleistungen

I am happy with the compensation. Really love that compensation is communicated transparently for all levels and thus for all colleagues, which also prevents discrimination imho. Regular discussion forums are happening to ensure that colleagues are comparable on the same levels (and pay) and whether to increase the compensation of each level as a whole. There also a bunch of benefits.

From what I heard, Netlight is enjoying a good image at clients. Not that well-known yet, even though I do not find that to be negative. I am proud to say I am a Netlighter

Karriere/Weiterbildung

From what I see from my colleagues, people are advancing quite fast with their career. Everyone got a mentor, who most of the time also feels responsible for supporting you in your career and push you forward. It should be discussed within your network whether to take a training or not, although I don't have any experience yet how well that works with more expensive trainings.
