- Teachers need to be put on PAR if they are not doing their jobs. There needs to be formal evaluations submitted about the administration at the school site. Administrators should know the names of their staff members and strive not to get the names of their 5 asian employees mixed up all the time. Consistent policies need to be enforced -- attendance, tardy, dress code, etc. More positive programs for helping students who are failing should be organized and put in place. They should be followed up with data on if the program is successful. Each program should have goals it is working toward and evidence of working toward that goal.
Working with young adults is never boring, always challenging, and makes a huge difference to the students you teach. The position is stable and you have a lot of days off! There can be a lot of support from your coworkers.
They need to provide the basic materials needed for the job (desks in good working order, working electrical outlets, basic technology (computers that go at a speed that isn't appalling to IT), reliable wi-fi, lights that are on in the parking lot and hallways starting at 6:30 am or earlier, paper, etc.).
Actually listening to the concerns and suggestions and using those concerns/suggestions to make informed decisions for our district-wide policies.
Support when it comes to disciplinary action for student behavior. Also, consistent disciplinary action at a school-site.
Data-driven decision making.
