We currently have an excellent opportunity for an Operations Technician to make a significant contribution and build their experience with us here at RWE. In this exciting position, you will undertake a wide range of activities both as part of a small integrated shift team and within a close station team environment to ensure the challenges of commercial operation are overcome, and operational milestones are achieved. Highly motivated, with a technical background, you will contribute to the ultimate success of this CCGT power station.
Little Barford CCGT Power Station in St Neots, Cambridgeshire, plays a key role in the UK energy market delivering 730MW of power capability, as well as multiple ancillary services to support the national grid.
The role will primarily be involved in plant operations, where you will be expected to respond effectively to operational demands, assist in achieving safe and efficient generation, and conduct start up and shut down of plant; giving due regard to all site authorisations and within prescribed limits to ensure the process is operated safely at all times.
You will also support the outage teams including Operations, Engineering and Maintenance within the constraints of competence and accreditations and participate in re-commissioning activities post outage. Throughout you will be expected to develop and maintain operational documentation, records and procedures.
Required skills and experience
- ONC in engineering/technical subject would be desirable, however significant experience in a similar role would also be considered
- Excellent team player with the ability to fully integrate and contribute to a small shift team compliment
- Have experience of process or power plant operations and a recognised engineering background, or craft skill in electrical, mechanical, C&I or Operations discipline
- Have good communication and numeracy skills
- A commercial awareness and an understanding of BETTA/REMIT would be an advantage
- Be competent in the use of applicable business IT systems such as MS office packages

Salary and package details
We offer a salary of c. £30,000 plus a shift allowance of £8,490, 25 days holiday, private medical care for you and your family, and an excellent company pension scheme.
