The company hasn't given an annual raise to production employees for 5 years now.
Management comes and goes so often that it's hard to have a productive connection with them. Often times someone will get promoted to management of production that had no experience with production in the first place and therefor no understanding of the issues that plague production.
Production employees try their best with what they're given.
Sometimes an operator can do the job assigned with little interference, but there are plenty of periods of time where micromanagement runs rampant and starts to interfere with work. A lot of times this is a result of the rotating door of new management.
A lot of communication issues between departments as well as other branches.
Karriere / Weiterbildung
Hardly any chance for someone in Production to move up the ladder. A lot of people who still work there are in the same position they started at. They often look outside the company when hiring for leadership positions instead of hiring from within.
Gehalt / Sozialleistungen
Annual raises have been denied for 5 years in a row. The raise when going from Operator to Key Operator after passing a test is slow to take effect and is only a 1 dollar raise. Starting wages aren't better than other places in the same industry and there are very few chances to make more than what you start with over time.
A lot of systems are in disrepair. AC was malfunctioning for a long time. Machines that require specific climate controlled environments are placed alongside all of the other machines with no attempt to accommodate these specifications. The air hose system currently has water in it. There have been leaks from the roof above million+ dollar machines that have remained un-fixed the whole time I was there. The inserter machines have gone without proper repair and PM for years.
Umwelt- / Sozialbewusstsein
No special effort was made that I know of.
Switched from 12 hour shifts to 8 hour shifts with the intention to shut down on weekends. Unfortunately, they continue to get jobs that run 6 days a week requiring workers to often come in on days off. Even so, it's still an irregular schedule with only a 2 day notice at best from week to week and sometime less than 24 hours notice that people will have to work the weekend.
Never felt proud to work for the company.
- Downsizing to something they're current revenue can actually handle.
The other production workers are really good people.
The disconnect between each department. The lack of attempt to retain knowledgeable and skilled workers. The lack of attempt to pay veteran workers what their knowledge and skill deserves. The constant promises for change that never come to pass. The complete disregard for proper machine maintenance. The changing of their PTO system several times within only a few years.
