Everyone pitches in, during layoffs, to find boxes around the office to put their belongings in.
They do this one too well actually; employees being laid off weekly for most of my time there -- the SBU manager actually e-mailed everybody in the department, with the names of the dearly departed. Weekly.

Section Manager is key. During interview, spend time grilling said manager. Get promises in writing. Reminding manager 6 months later will just get you pushed into the 'unhappy with job' category. Ask about performance metrics -- and evaluations. They have to provide them to their bosses every year; if the manager can't answer in a straight-forward manager -- it means he/she is likely winging reviews, and doesn't want to get pinned down.
Umwelt- / Sozialbewusstsein
Many desks on 2nd and 3rd floor are empty -- saving a bundle on electricity -- and the world.
If you ignore the stress you take home each day - not knowing if the company is about to lay off most of your department -- the flex-time is a nice perk.
They pay good money for 'Great Place to Work' T-shirts. Propaganda is very important -- and strictly maintained.
Hire and Fire mentality caused my duration at SSOE to be relatively short -- and I'm grateful.
Constant nonsense about 'value-adding' on every project. "100 million dollar project; but we've added $110 million in value" Turns out customers aren't exactly lining up for return business -- especially when it comes to being constantly pestered with up-selling tactics (the proper name for the technique)
