Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich

Nice colleagues, nice gifts, nice company events.

The company is great for people who finished an apprenticeship or studying and are looking for their first job experience, people who don't find a job anywhere else and people who want to get kids and have a safe income during pregnancy and maternity leave.

Don't expect to learn much here though, as most people with experience don't stay long.

Verbesserungsvorschläge

Be more transparent and don't be afraid to tell people the truth. They are not stupid and will figure it out anyways. You only make yourself untrustworthy by denying the truth.

Have a more transparent concept for salaries, making it fair and competitive with the market.
Make a list with a competitve base salary for each position and different levels of job experience, then add an individually variable performance bonus and the christmas bonus to that.

Get a works council that cares about the interests and well-being of employees and enforces legal compliance.

Arbeitsatmosphäre

Pretty much all departmens are overworked. Either they have been for years (like internal IT support) or since managers are pushing with more and more work and members left the departments, leaving the work for others to do, especially in Sales, PM and ADM. There is no time to handle everything.

Kommunikation

Management stays silent about almost anything, there is no proper response to feedback and no intention to improve.

Instead of accepting it and trying to improve things, management and HR are only trying to silence criticism by making false claims that make no sense at all which everyone can easily notice.
It's not logically possible that the company is paying a lot more for salaries when everyone got a low single digit salary increase or none at all and the amount of members even reduced.

The excuses as to why feedback can't be addressed get more and more adventurous, it could be good comedy if it wasn't serious.
It feels like management and HR are living in an alternate reality with their alternative facts.

They probably think they are super smart and employees will believe their claims.

Kollegenzusammenhalt

At least inside departments the teams are usually getting along pretty well. Having fun with colleagues and not wanting to leave them behind is the only thing that keeps most people here.

Work-Life-Balance

There's no option to choose how much you want to work from home, unless it's less than 50%. Everyone needs to be in the office at least 50% of the working time, but only if your working location in your contract is the office. For others it's no problem to work 100% mobile for some mysterious reason.

A lot of managers even want employees to work 100% in the office, but strangely you almost never see them there themselves. They also forget appointments in the office and need to quickly drive there from home after being reminded.

Some managers are asking employees to work more even though overtime is not paid when working normally and the time management system only allows for up to 10 hours which you can use to leave earlier at other times. It is not possible to use this time to take whole days off.

Low performers have an easy life here, as the only consequences they have to face is getting slightly lower salary increases every year and no bonus. They never raise any criticism, as they like to be carried by the company.

Vorgesetztenverhalten

Hearing a true word out of the mouth of a manager is an extremely rare occasion.

A lot of them are very pushy and want to control everything without any idea of how to do the job right they are asking others to do.

Language can sometimes be harsh and insulting.

Apart from some weird discrepancies like some team managers getting paid less than employees and some employees in the same position getting a lot more than others while performing worse, people are usually treated equally bad here. Apparently some higher-ups got expensive company cars in the last two years (you can notice it by looking at the number plates).

There aren't many, they will usually have more experience and look for better paying jobs and better working conditions.

Arbeitsbedingungen

The office environment is practical and simplistic to say it nicely. Ergonomics and safety are unknown rocket science.
It is a real struggle to get proper equipment for working, as there is no money for anything and lots of restrictions to buy things.

Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein

Management thinks the company deserves much better treatment and getting things for free or with high discount from other companies, e.g. when attending at events or negotiating prices of things they want to buy. It's a completely unrealistic view and arrogant, making the company look bad.

Gehalt/Sozialleistungen

Insultingly low salaries in all departments, at least 20% underpaid.

When you are offered additonal work or responsibilities, they promise it will be rewarded, but promises of managers have never been held in this company over the years.

In times of high revenue increases like during the pandemic, the profits are not forwarded to the employees.

The budget is way too low and apparently trainings need to be denied because employees need to keep the service up for partners and customers, so employees can't do anything else but work.

thank you for your feedback.

While we agree that Synology is a good place to start you career and gain valuable experience, we also want to point out that we have many colleagues who are part of the company for many years, because they like to work here. Being motivated to shape the future of Synology, they have taken different career paths including Expert, Senior or Leadership positions.

We recently improved the options to reduce accumulated overtime by introducing flex days (whole day off) and shortening the core working time. However, it should not be the goal to regularly work overtime because we want our members to ensure a healthy work life balance.

Regarding external trainings, we want to emphasize that we have an internal Career Framework, which regulates the minimum training budget per employee and year. If a desired training is above the budget in the career framework, it does not automatically mean that the training will be denied. Our employees can still approach her/his supervisor and discuss different options. Many employees make use of this opportunity and attend interesting training courses which help them to advance professionally.

Even if you criticize many aspects, we are glad to hear that you appreciate the working atmosphere between colleagues, company gifts and company events. We were very happy to have a summer and Christmas party last year after it has not been possible for a long time. It was great to see all faces in one place again and enjoy the time together.
