- I think there need to be strict rules for how to handle bad attitudes/insubordination. My workplace is way too lenient with these rules, which is causing employee discord. Several of the long-standing employees feel like they should quit because the new employees keep getting away with things they shouldn't and the older employees are sick of nothing being done with the problem employees.
I had a PE a few years ago and needed to take almost 2 weeks off work. I didn't have enough vacation/sick time to cover that, so the owner at that time (new owner took over a year ago) allowed me to go 32 hours NEGATIVE on my vacation/sick time so that I could still have a paycheck while out on injury leave. They let me work off the deficit.
My supervisor has taken an hour out of her day several times over the last few years to just listen to what's going on in my life, and to offer advice if I asked for it.
Most of the employees here are like family; we watch out for each other, support each other in everyday decisions, and cheer up anyone who might be feeling blue.
I'm not happy with the current owner. I think that he should be spending more time in the store and with the employees to build better relationships within the workplace, and to see the day-to-day operations of the store. The previous owner could have been mistaken for a regular employee because he was always here and offering to help customers.
