There are so many positive personal experiences working in a school. I have made great friends in co-teachers I work with. You bond, and make a sisterhood - or brotherhood - a cult who understands all of your job responsibilities, chaos, and deadlines, and are in the same boat as you. My job in itself, allows me to meet the wonderful imaginative, creative, cute , funny, youth. I get to celebrate each holiday with them enthusiastically, and dress up - and relive my youth again! I teach, I inspire, I help kids grasp things, or get intrinsic motivation in learning, and there is no greater reward than that. I get to read and write on a daily basis and watch educational Youtube videos with catchy songs. I am constantly able to learn through my motivation, and that is also another incredible perk in my job. I get to read children's literature, brush up on current events through scholastic, practice cursive, and math skills etc. It is an all around great job and REWARDING.
Just the standardized state testing as part of a teacher evaluation. I feel that is unjust. Some kids are bad test takers, or have disabilities...why am I being judged based on their performance? Shouldn't you judge me on my own performance, and my students report cards (day to day assessments) to prove my efficiency?
