- Pay your staff what the market calls for or you will continue to lose great developers. Reward people more. Stop turning Christmas and summer parties into ridiculous team building events. People just want to have a few drinks and a good time. Building boats in the freezing cold is not “fun”. We need a bigger office and a more central location.
Genuine people who just want to do great work. Most are very easy to get along with and very welcoming of new people. At times it feels like a family.
Things have gone downhill fast due to a recent change in IT management. IT staff are leaving and many more are contemplating it. New hires are favored over older staff.
IT managements decision making is chaotic. Lots of changes in direction. Choosing whichever new technology is in fashion. I might be able to put aside the growing distrust, but time and again I have experienced a lack of interest in employee opinions. If having a good professional relationship with your boss is important to you, this is not the place. IT management is untrustworthy, demanding and unsupportive. We are no longer doing great work.
After speaking with other people salaries for most are well below what they should be. Raises are unheard of. Ordering pizza for working over time is not good enough.
I am raising my concerns here in the hope it will bring about some very necessary change. I don't get the feeling I can do this internally.
