There is an enormous amount of turnover at this company, and the president's unofficial stance on employees is that "Millennials have a two year half-life", and everyone is a Millennial until proven otherwise.
Support from management
Many of the company departments worked very smoothly, as they had clearly defined duties and responsibilities. Field engineering group, on the other hand was often left swinging in the wind, as they were the catch all for problems with everything already deployed.
Freedom to work independently
On this part, I will admit, they gave free reign, as long as normal duties were completed.
Communication from the top down is sparse other than during mandated events. Response to innovation proposals is nearly non-existent unless proposed from the top down.
If you can do the work, you get the job.
Attitude towards older colleagues
In my section, older employees were the rule rather than the exception. At 42 I was the youngest field engineer. However, actual validation of work performed was severely lacking form management for our section. We felt severely underappreciated.
Overall compensation for your work
Poor. The company was infamous for underpaying its workforce
Office / Work Environment
Not the best, not the worst. The open office environment was vulnerable to distractions.
Didn't know, didn't effect me much. I did my own recycling.
It's fine if you have things like a vacation planned out ahead of time, but otherwise, forget it. Overtime is expected, then forbidden at seemingly arbitrary times.
Company image was fine, but like mose companies, was mostly a facade
Elevators and standing desks for those who needed or wanted them.
Only if you created it for yourself.
Inclusive / Diverse
culturally diverse, if not racially so, for the most part.
Suggestions for improvement
- Actually hire people with the knowledge base you need, and quit trying to hire people on the cheap and "train them up" on stuff they will not be knowledgeable about.
What I like about the company
When you came up with an idea that didn't take up other people's time, they didn't mind if you ran with it.
What I dislike about the company
Pay is bad. Raises were far and few between.
The following benefits were offered to me
- CityCITRUS HEIGHTS
- Are you a Current or Former Employee?Former employee
