Suggestions for improvement
- Training. Training. Training. Diversify workplace culture (eliminate "Us" and "Them" practice). Empower leadership. Ensure managerial and programmatic integrity. Be the example. Ensure continuity throughout the agency to ensure observance of the mission and vision. Revamp financial practices and provide responsible oversight to eliminate waste. Revamp HR practices to promote a healthy work environment by eliminating personal agendas. Engage in meaningful dialogue with the stakeholders and managers to facilitate a healthy and productive work environment.
What I like about the company
Excellent healthcare insurance. Tuition reimbursement up to 80%. Affiliate discounts.
What I dislike about the company
Does not promote opportunities for advancement. Seniority based as opposed to qualification considerations. Advancement based upon who you know. A lot of silos. Autocratic culture- independent thinkers are not esteemed. Staff are not properly trained. Most positions the person has to "hit the ground running." Finance department is managed poorly. Purchases are only authorized through contracting agents who usually charge twice as much as a retailer. Appear to thrive on dysfunctional programs. Political environment (no one means what he/she communicates in your face). Cut throat environment (often interact with people who have hidden agendas). Dominated by union (1199). Image is more important than supports and services.
