We are going through a remodel. I feel like we are spread thin and it is not all about the residents anymore.
Suggestions for improvement
- The remodel is costing us too much. Instead of cutting hours, I would 'go for broke' & lower the ratio of employee/ resident. This way excellent standerds could be maintained. I would concentrate on resident care,respect and dignity. I would strive to have excellent food, housekeeping, restorative and activities. Employees are being spoken too like children, screamed at along with a devide in dept heads. I would have an independent co. come in and look into why our company has such low morale when just a few years ago it was veey high morale. I would bring in someone to increase employee engagements stats, as well as retrain the upper management staff to be leaders instead of bosses. I would also bring in an independent company to interview the employees and some recent employees that have left as to why turnover is high and morale is so low.
What I like about the company
I have worked there 7 yrs. I had 1 dept head that was awful to me. HR helped me to transfer into other dept. I am now working toward my activity director certificate.
What I dislike about the company
Our new administrator speaks very rudely and unprofessional to the employees. Dept are being shrunk down to bare minimum. The resident dignity and respect are slipping. Hours have been cut because we don't have as many residents, I feel that employees are expected to do too much and guality of time with residents is suffering.
