Most of the employees in my department were good workers, shared work load equally, were willing to help each other, and the overall production kept the operation flowing smoothly.
Support from management
My manager is good about getting people support when need be, especially when multitasking is required.
Depending on who you're scheduled with, highly determines the positive working atmosphere. Managers are usually good at dividing work, and working together when need be.
Freedom to work independently
There are a few employees in my department that are extremely unreliable, and end up making everyone else's job more difficult. This especially sucks during busy hours because you end up with double the work load, in less amount of time.
Most employees communicate well, some of the upper management could do a better job giving more detailed instructions, one major issue we consistently have is the unavailability of scanning devices, in which employees are required to use daily, but end up wasting time waiting for one's to become available. Lots of departments can't do much without these, since the whole product database are ran through these.
For the most part, both mfn and women share equal tasks.
Attitude towards older colleagues
Age doesn't seem to be an issue, and it seems older employees have equal opportunities.
There are lots of chances for advancement within the company, some have different requirements than others, but the opportunity is there.
Overall compensation for your work
Starting out, the wages were fair but it's hard to get a decent increase.
Office / Work Environment
I work in the freezer the mojority of my shift, and the company provides jackets, which helps a lot! Other factors in the freezer are unadjustable, due to food maintenance.
There's an area for every recyclable item, trash, cardboard, glass, plastic.
I typically get around 40 hrs a week, so I'm able to maintain a steady work-life balance without over doing it.
Wouldn't necessarily say proud, but it's a decent job from a reputable company, so hard to complain.
As long as you do the required work and not miss too many days, positions seem stable.
From what I've seen, most of the operative machines (bailer, compactor, loading docks) and facilities (bathrooms, freezers, storage) are handicap accessible.
Training is mandated and provided before each new task, so accidents are avoided. Safety is a high priority.
Mentally, it was easy and somewhat repetitive, but physically, it was tough because we were required to lift and move heavy freight in the freezer daily.
Inclusive / Diverse
Walmart prides themselves on diversification, so people of all color, genders and ages are treated fairly and given equal chances.
Suggestions for improvement
- I'd improve on organization so departments can have the necessary tools to perform their jobs to the fullest, and not waste any time.
What I like about the company
Most of the employees in my department are fun to work with, which makes time fly. Plus, there are some pretty cool customers that you become acquainted with over time!
What I dislike about the company
Definately the lack of available equipment, when said equotment is a daily requirement for work.
