Profit Sharing Plan:

84 Lumber cares about the financial future of you and your family. We also want to reward you for your loyalty to our team. We are dedicated to providing our Associates with the opportunity to enjoy a lucrative retirement from our company!

100% contributed by 84 Lumber based on profitability Fully vested after 7 years participation All full-time associates are eligible after one year of employment.

401(k) Savings Plan:

Associates are immediately eligible for participation Deposit 1% to 50% of your eligible income Participant is entitled to any company contribution according to a six-year vesting schedule Participants can self-direct their own investments into approximately 16 different investment options. Note regarding 401(k) savings plan: Benefits are available to all employees who work at least 1,000 hours per year. Must be employed first and last day of year. Please be aware that each benefit - with the exception of profit sharing - will require some financial payments by the associate.

Who we are looking for

Preferred skills

  • Experience working in a team atmosphere.
  • Ability to multi-task in fast paced environment.
  • Previous experience in retail or building industry highly preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must take and pass drug test and consent to a background check.
  • Must take and pass other pre-employment assessments.
  • Work in outdoor / indoor conditions, and ability to load and unload lumber and other building materials with or without reasonable accommodations.

Preferred qualifications

High School diploma or general education degree (GED); Bachelor's Degree preferred; Or two to four years of equivalent job related experience.

84 treats people like family. They are very easy to get along with.

Freedom to work independently

If you are an outside sales person. You have the freedom to do as you please as long as your making your numbers.

Internal Communication

Nothing is kept a secret here. Daily news letters come out that are available to read for all employees.

Overall compensation for your work

The company has only survived as long as they have by not paying a decent hourly wage. They incentive to work there is their bonus system. However, getting a bonus is promised and is not always easy to do. In my experience you went most months not getting any type of bonus.

Work-Life Balance

Working weekends for this company is almost a certainty unless you work at the corporate office.

Suggestions for improvement

  • 84 wants people with high skills but wants to start the out at $10 per hour, which is not a livable wage.

What I like about the company

You will most likely be treated very nice while there. I worked at 3 different locations and everyone was always very nice and professional.

What I dislike about the company

Hours, pay to responsibility ratio is way off balance.
