Company Culture

Employees do their own thing, including speaking racially in front of groups of people, they are rude and unprofessional

Support from management

mangement is a myth, they do not properly interact or support, doing so would expose their inabilities and threaten their positions

Teamwork

each team member does his own thing, applies his own methods.

Freedom to work independently

This is the greatest bonus of working here, you mostly have time to work out the technical issues on your own, and during lulls you have plenty of time to look for something else, which is highly recommended

Internal Communication

Managers are MIA and unskilled, leaving the group to decide best course of action. Team members do not communicate but expect telekenetic abilites to reveal answers, while each acts as a manager, each also directs others with completely different courses of action which often conflict and cause internal bickering.

Gender Equality

Long term employees not only speak down on female workers, but can be completely degrading and insulting

Attitude towards older colleagues

long term team members will seem helpful and friendly at first (if you can get past their obvious open racism, childishness, and judgement of others) but in reality, its a cover for their history of back stabbing

Career Development

They make idle promises that never pan out

Overall compensation for your work

pay was great but no bennies

Office / Work Environment

Horrible

Environmental Friendliness

Employees don't care about discarding items wherever they can, and are messy and sloppy and don't clean up after themselves

Work-Life Balance

For the most part the long time team members leave the work to the new members while they kick their feet up on the sofa of their office, or spend their time offsite taking care of their own personal issues on company time

Company Image

This team is the joke of Disney, and for good reason

Job Security

every day is a struggle to survive another day

Handicapped Accessibility

None

Workplace Safety

These guys think safety is a word from the chinese dictionary, they have no clue what it means or how to implement it

Challenging Work

The work with the Studios and staff was challenging and fun, the only other bonus to this place

Inclusive / Diverse

while the team had many different backgrounds, their was a very high underlying tone of racism from the long term members

Suggestions for improvement

  • Disney needs to finally do away with the ABC studios joke of an excuse for IT

What I like about the company

working with the staff at the studios

What I dislike about the company

Horrible management and team

Company Culture

My immediate supervisors would commend their employees. Forget about upper management. And with all the layoffs and outsourcing, there is no climate of trust. In all the company correspondence they call employees Cast Members, like you're part of a big family, doesn't mean a thing, no matter how hard you work. When the ax falls, all of that is ignored.

Support from management

My immediate supervisors were good, upper management is the problem. Everyone is just a number. They pretend they care about their employess when all they are looking at is the bottom line. Cut the budget to make themselves look goo to the CEO.

Teamwork

My team, we all got along very well, and that was thirty people. Most of that team is gone now, along with their knowledge, maybe five left.

Freedom to work independently

Work load is distributed farily, however, you had no say in the structuring of your own area of responsibility.

Gender Equality

The Dept. I worked at, there were alot of women in managerial positions.

Attitude towards older colleagues

The last six years they've been getting rid of alot of the older workers in their fifties. They'll let go at least one younger person in that group so it doesn't look like it's all older people. They've become very big on outsourcing, always looking to let people go. They've stopped giving raises to a lot of people, who now just get it as a flat check, no increase in your salary. There's no job security, no loyalty to employees. The loyalty is one way, from the employee. However, this is not just Disney, it's all Corporate America.

Career Development

As far as career advancement, there was none. They sent me to a lot of classes, but I was never given any work that would use those new skills. They just wanted you to think you would sometime in the future get to upgrade your skills, it was all a Ruse to keep me there till I was no longer needed. Companies do not want to train employees anymore, they want to hire people with the skills that are needed. Eventually those employees will become obsolete, and then they have a reason to let you go an hire a younger person at a lower salary with those skills.

Overall compensation for your work

Pay was good, till I was let go.

Office / Work Environment

Working conditions were good.

Environmental Friendliness

Disney is very aware about social matters, Eath Day etc.

Work-Life Balance

I worked a lot of O.T., didn't get paid for it. I can't speak for the rest of the company and other positions. Sometimes we were told not to take vacation time in the summer if there was a specific project they wanted done.

Company Image

Employees that I know who are still working there do not talk fondly of the company since they've been outsourcing and letting people go.

Job Security

There is great risk to your position being eliminated due to outsourcing or just letting you go to hire someone younger and at a lower salary.

Challenging Work

I always felt a sense of accomplishment when completing a task.

Inclusive / Diverse

I don't think diverse opinions and ideas were supported. Upper Mmanagement does what they want, they don't care what the employees think, they just pretend to care.

Suggestions for improvement

  • As I said above, they say their employees are their most important asset, then they should show it. Stop outsourcing our jobs and letting us go. Stop creating new pay scales where the top salary in that scale is low comopared to what people are making so you have the excuse not to give them a raise anymore.

What I like about the company

I liked working at ABC/Disney when I first got there. The people I worked with were easy to get along with, the work was good, but that was nineteen years ago. Things have changed a lot since then.

What I dislike about the company

The culture and upper management's view toward employees has changed. They always send out saying we're one big family, and that their most important asset are their employees, while at the same time they layoff a lot of people. If we're so important why keep letting us go?
