Suggestions for improvement
- I would allow employees to socialize within reason and instead of taking that ability away because of a few individuals who abuse the privilege, councel those individuals and discipline as necessary. The same with a computer messaging app or changing computer backgrounds. Happy employees are better employees. I would also increase the hourly wage by at least a dollar an hour or more if feasible. I would increase lunch time by 15 minutes and change the work schedules to accommodate the change.
What I like about the company
For the most part it's easy work, no micromanaging, no dealing with customers, or talking on the phone. I have my own desk and within reason I can decorate it however I want. I like being able to listen to whatever I want with my headphones on. We have holiday and seasonal activities, including food with some. We have a decent break room. We get breaks and lunch (although it is only 30 minutes). Except for the fact that they don't want us to talk to each other, we are treated like adults and left to do our jobs. If we could talk, had messaging capabilities, longer lunch, and more pay, this would almost be the perfect job.
What I dislike about the company
Humans are social creatures. I am sure it's not intentional but I think being unable to interact with our co-workers aloud or through a messaging app feels demeaning. The 30 minute lunch break doesn't give us enough time to go out of the building for lunch or errands. I know most of us would be willing to work 15 extra minutes before or after our shift to have a longer lunch. The job is incredibly boring at times. That can be mentally exhausting. I believe that we should be paid accordingly. I have worked at many companies where I was filled with complaints but I only have three real complaints about ABI. I think that says a lot about this company.
