Suggestions for improvement
- I would suggest that all departments develop communication standards and protocols, and then adhere to them. Spot inspections of truck mechanical systems, and trailers, upon entering the terminals, to better catch existing flaws in equipment, before they become a problem. At the same time, reefer trailer fuel levels should be recorded. The occasional bonus pay would also be nice.
What I like about the company
Brand new trucks, every other year. Paid vacation. They will get you home for personal and family emergencies. In a medical emergency, they held my job while I healed for 2 months. They tend to be family oriented. And, for the most part, are inclined to leave you alone, and let you do your job.
What I dislike about the company
I have observed that other drivers that don't live near a terminal, have trouble getting home on time. And they could certainly improve upon their communication skills. The head of the dispatch department lacks leadership skills, and can be prone to bully-ish behavior. There is a long running feud between the mechanic shop and the body shop that has a negative impact on productivity; I find this to be immature. Both shops suffer from poor management.
