What I like

During an illness when I had to call out multiple times my manager was completely understanding and offered me other ways to come to work with out being at the bedside. Not only did that help me financially but decreased my anxiety about losing my job due to an illness

What I dislike

Their holiday schedule, you work the day of and the day before if it’s your holiday.

Suggestions for improvement

More support staff at night would help

Company Culture

Abington is a great place to work. They are constantly trying to find new ways to ensure patient safety as well as staff

Internal Communication

The hospital communicates via your employee email and through staff meetings plus a weekly newsletter

There are all sorts of ways to thank/acknowledge your coworkers

Work-Life Balance

We do self scheduling so if I need a day off I just don’t schedule myself to work that day

Freedom to work independently

While the hospital does allow us to work independently there is definitely a system of checks and balances to ensure patient safety

Gender Equality

We have more women in management than men

Attitude towards older colleagues

There are definitely places to go in the company when bedside nursing is to hard

Environmental Friendliness

There are recycling bins all over the hospital and since we use computers for everything now there is much less paper being wasted

Challenging Work

Not only is being a nurse physically taxing but emotionally as well.
