Company Culture

Everyone has a nasty attitude and an ego problem

Support from management

constant berating, hardly any training, zero leadership or support

expect to do your boss's work and receive no recognition

you work independently, but are never monitored. upper mgmt is asleep at the wheel

poor roll out of info, usually find out new info from clients faster than internal communication

80-90% of the employees are females. males are almost always put on trucks to move furniture

not easy to convince older workers to work for $9/hour

Career Development

the rungs on the ladder are too widely spaced. company recently started promoting from within only because there's so little training for middle mgmt positions. promotions are based on physical looks and whether or not you have children (told to me by a regional director)

Overall compensation for your work

you have to run a store for $12/hour. every 6 months you might get a 50-cent raise, or you might get nothing. bonuses are virtually impossible to achieve. only good part is the insurance plan

Office / Work Environment

it is what you make of it if you're at a kiosk, depends on the client

Environmental Friendliness

waste paper and burn gas, in pursuit of tiny payments, ultimately not profitable or sustainable

Work-Life Balance

you are expected to work 48 hours/week, and you have to because otherwise you can't afford to work there

Company Image

it's a division of Rent-A-Center, so if you tell anyone who you work for, they will instantly think you're a monster who preys on the poor

Job Security

has the highest turnover rate I've ever seen. also recently lost two major clients (hhg & conns), so the company is looking to downsize

Handicapped Accessibility

most kiosks are in tiny broomclosets, and you're constantly moving from desk on one side of store to all over salesfloor

Workplace Safety

most dangerous part is customers who are willing to put their hands on you rather than pay their furniture bill. I'd feel safer in a pawn shop

Challenging Work

must have excellent collection skills, business acumen, and sales skills just to survive

Inclusive / Diverse

assumes the worst of white male employees, will accept accusations of racism and harassment as true, without performing an investigation

Suggestions for improvement

  • this company needs to be sold to another firm who can actually run it for a profit. c-level mgmt is clueless, divisional/regional/district levels only know how to berate their staff

What I like about the company

weekly pay on Fridays, insurance plan is good (have to work 90 days to enroll)

What I dislike about the company

the company is failing financially, there's a culture of fear and negativity, extremely low paying at all levels, discriminatory hire/promotion practices, a failing & reckless business model, only backstabbers succeed here

There is no proper training set in place. They expect outrages expectations while threatening your job if expectations aren't meant. District manager who don't come to work, and send emails and texts daily

If you work here its best not to have a family at home.... i literally worked like 3 months straight no days off at the time i had no kids no boyfriend/husband so it was okay but i had to quit once my daughter was born i worked WAY too many hours money was good but i wanted to be around my baby girl more

When theyre done with you they're done ....they will have ypu train your replacement and not even tell you ive been there for 4 years had 10 different district managers within that time and 4 different regional managers they're turnover percentage is out of this world!!!!!

Support from management

I literally had the best supervisor in the entire district. He was just about the most understanding and involved manager I have ever met and I'm glad to have met him. There was absolutely nothing he could not do. I tried to mirror his work ethic and learn as much as possible to better all and any situations. I learned so much and can't forget any of it.

Teamwork

This was probably this best job I have had up until now. I can't complain, I was treated well and everyone I worked with treated me with respect. I felt like I was brought into a family. I will always remember everyone and the great experiences I had working for Acceptance Now, Northridge location.

Freedom to work independently

You do have to conduct work a certain way, providing you abide by corporate's way of handling day to day tasks. Get the job done, remain organized, and pay attention to detail. That's all it took and you and you were always rewarded.

Management really dont care about whats going on and hardly have any idea of how things work and honestly dont care.

Career Development

This company offers great opportunities if you are good at sales and you are okay with doing 8 other jobs and being under paid for it.

Company Culture

The atmosphere depends upon the relationship between your store and the host store. Of you have an understanding host it's like one big family.

Support from management

If you have a good relationship with your manager , you can learn a lot about the business. If it is strained it can be stressful.

Teamwork

Depending o. Your district you can form relationships with other stores and be able to get help from others.

Freedom to work independently

The workload is fairly easy, it's not rocket science. Basically the same thing every single day.

Internal Communication

Things change very often within the company. What may be OK and fine to do today can be completely wrong tomorrow.

Gender Equality

Promotion is based on who the District manager likes. Seniority and hard work unfortunately have no place in the lower levels of the company.

Office / Work Environment

Conditions depend on your host store. The equipment provided by Acceptance is extremely basic.

Work-Life Balance

There is 0 work life balance. You do not get weekends off. Your hours are the host store hours if they're open you're working. In order to have a Saturday off you have to use a vacation and if your district ma anger wants to he/she can deny your request. The schedule is grueling and essentially leaves you with very little if any free time.

Job Security

Your job is not guarantee. If the host store decides they no longer want Acceptance Now there, you have 30 days to leave the location and there is no promise you as an employee will receive a 30day notice. The district and regional manager will know about it but they can choose when to let you know.

  • Better work life balance, fair promotion standards, update the system

The best part is you're not directly supervised and you're paid weekly.
