Support from management
No support for the teachers
Most teachers work well together, some think they are above others & are rude.
Communication is very poor from the administration. Feedback is only negative. Admin. looks good upfront, but is rude behind the scenes.
Attitude towards older colleagues
The new admin is pushing out the older teachers as they are in a money crunch and are presently making it a place where it is impossible to work without stress and hardship. This is causing the higher paid teachers to quit, including paraprofessionals, office staff, and then are rehiring lower paid employees. This causes very bad employee/employer relationship. We are not supported or appreciated by the newer administration. Since the arrival of this administration, 11 staff have quit/resigned in the past 1 year.
Don't work here. Don't send your child to this school; it is not what it once was.
The Admin only values its own families. We are given tons of paper work to do over breaks and vacation times when the union states we are not to work. They find ways around all to look good and bend the rules.
I once use to enjoy working at ACLD Tillotson School. The students learned and the staff was very happy. It is no longer that way. The students use computers to learn at least 85% of the day, the teachers no longer have the freedom to really teach or create smartboard related lessons to reach all learners. This has been taken away with the use of computers, the new curriculum, and the administration telling us to how much we need to teach within one month's time, so we are always under pressure to go faster without concern for the student's individual needs. We have been told that if the parents do not like what is happening at Tillotson, they can take their child out.
Not worth the aggrevation or stress this place now creates.
Suggestions for improvement
- Parents and the board of directors need to seriously look into how the program is now being run. When many of the staff leave, a severe look at the operation is warranted.
