varies by store
moved from competitor to this company after relocating to new state with manager experience and references and was overlooked for many promotions to keep me from growing because the manager looked at me as a back up for his work and did not want the chance to lose me. also worked full-time hours for 1 year as a part-time employee and was only turned into full-time because the system automatically changes it in the computer.
was hired for a position that didn't exist. was not aware of that until after I started working and had to be listed as a driver so I did not have sales goals. apparently the tasks I was doing were that of the store manager and assistant manager. (so I was a part-time employee with manager access and permissions)
Overall compensation for your work
poor pay, rare chance of raises
this is one thing you don't have to worry about. very hard to be fired from this company.
the company takes safety seriously, employees don't always take the necessary steps needed
Suggestions for improvement
- Actual surprise visits. Most times when the "big guys" are coming for a visit, word spreads like wild fire and managers rush to get the store to "pass" the visit to cover themselves from getting in trouble. That makes it harder for the regional and even district managers to actually see what is going on
What I like about the company
I had a lot of freedom because of the position I was holding.
What I dislike about the company
The freedom I had caused me to be a stand in manager for both retail and commercial counters without actually being a manager. Towards the end of my time there I had to finally put my foot down because I was never comfortable being left in the store as a "manager"(without being told) simply because my password worked for manager tasks
