Account manager is quick to document anything to use it against the employee when the company no longer wants someone but they don't want to fire them. The supervisor is a complete shill and puppet to the account manager.
Support from management
Leadership is more of a total autocracy with disrespectful leadership and abusive tactics.
There is no teamwork as Loss Prevention Officers work by themselves autonomously.
Freedom to work independently
Depending on location, level of supervision varies. It can go from bi-daily visits to monthly visits from supervisors.
Women are hired at a much lower rate than men but then again, this is not a position that attracts many females.
Attitude towards older colleagues
I don't know. We did not have more than maybe one.
It is a joke. You are treated like a very replaceable asset and opportunity for advancement within this division in Phoenix, AZ is 0.01, maybe less.
Overall compensation for your work
Compensation is market competitive. Benefits are none. NONE.
Office / Work Environment
Working conditions are good. In Phoenix, AZ the accounts mainly involve Safeway and Albertsons stores. Depending on your level of rapport with the store managers, life can be good.
This is completely irrelevant to the position.
Vacation is not earned until the equivalent of 2 years worth of 40 hours/week is accumulated and even then you cannot take vacation. The company would just pay you an extra paycheck equivalent to 40 hours of work.
Working hours are never the same for obvious reasons. Families don't even enter into the equation. There is no peer pressure.
The incredible turn around of employees; the sheer amount of people that leave constantly after a very short period of time will tell you the lack of adequate leadership in place at the account level management.
In less than two years I went from being the new guy to being the 3rd or 4th with more seniority among a group of almost 40.
The job is never stable. You are easily replaceable, you don't matter, and they will let you know so.
The position does not have room for disabled people. You can't chase shoplifters, defend yourself, or follow people around discreetly from a wheelchair.
The company provides *adequate* training consisting of a one 8-hour training to obtain state certifications.
You only feel proud sometimes. When you have to push for prosecution of a mentally ill person, a minor, a suicidal girl, or a woman who was just abused by her husband and kicked out of her house... it doesn't make you feel very well. Management gives you zero leeway or discretion on the matter because of liability issues.
Inclusive / Diverse
The company promotes diversity in personnel but not even a hint of opinions or ideas. Both are equally, forcibly, and abusively shut down at every opportunity.
Suggestions for improvement
- New management.
What I like about the company
It was exciting sometimes. Most of the time it is dull.
What I dislike about the company
Management is one of the worst I have ever encounter in any job.
