Suggestions for improvement
- One major change would be to add a department to HR that would work for the employee. Most HR departments work in favor of the company and their managers, employees don't really have any one on their side when there is a conflict or disagreement. The company could also do a better job of treating older employees the same as they do newer employees, once you reach a certain point in your career, they are interested in what value you could still bring to the company.
What I like about the company
The company I worked for, I am now retired from the company after 38 years, provided continued employment, with an excellent salary. They had on site training, a gym that I used on a daily basis, flexible hours, sick leave, and paid vacation. I learn skills from training that will take me far in to the future. Skills such as, Six Sigma and Lean Improvement, the training was paid for by the company. Those skill can be used in any industry or business, not just oil and gas production.
What I dislike about the company
The company could do a better job of managing the managers. They switch them often, some times they don't work well with their new teams. More leadership training could keep some of the conflict at bay. Although most company's have come a long way, there's still work to be done in the area of women in the work place and promotions for women. Women with out a 4 year degree are still not treated the same a men with out that same degree.
