Support from management
Management is a joke. Redmond promotes totally unqualified people to lead. It's really all about who kissed the best buttocks, & then competing egos.
Teamwork in most departmental areas is successful at the lower job levels.
Freedom to work independently
Don't complain about anything. Policy is no retaliation in HR, but this is only on paper NOT in action. HR dept is the WORST I've ever worked with.
IT'S A MAN'S WORLD!
Philosophy is you get paid for 40 hrs but you are EXPECTED to work over 50.
LOTS AND LOTS OF REPETITIVE LAYOFFS. So many employees are fearful of losing their jobs because of this.
Only one building is readily handicap accessible. Parking spaces are also used by employees without disabilities. I've often seen Executives who come in late park in the handicap zones.
Redmond does work hard to provide a safe workplace. This is one true positive.
It's rocket science so the work is definitely challenging, but lots of Mgmt. roadblocks and a huge fear of change. Remember, competing egos and poor communication.
Suggestions for improvement
- PAY YOUR EMPLOYEES WHAT THEY ARE WORTH. This company is only successful do to the Assemblers and Technicians building the product and you pay them a pittance of what they are worth, meanwhile you line your pockets.
What I like about the company
Not much other than they have a great cafeteria run by this wonderful family.
What I dislike about the company
HR will low-ball you on compensation, while the HR director receives a yearly bonus for doing this. Only Executives receive yearly bonuses. Communication is poor while management egos are high. Lots of back-stabbing. LOTS OF LAYOFFS.
