They make attempts to make you feel as though you're making an important product but the pay and disrespect doesn't sync up.
Support from management
Management has to get info from management who has to also get info from management and so on. Only to get no answer or outdated ones.
The production workers try their best to work as a team despite the overwhelming odds of trying to steer a ship with no rudders or sail.
Freedom to work independently
No. You will constantly be micromanaged and if you do well you're seen as a threat.
Management may as well speak in tongues.
Heard on several occasion first hand the hate for any young female employees.
Attitude towards older colleagues
They treat the senior techs like they are lucky they get to stay there and they put very little stock into their feedback or ideas.
If you're not part of the group of friends you will not advance.
Overall compensation for your work
401k and health insurance are fantastic. You're actual paycheck is terribly low. A company making surgical cataract lenses shouldn't be competing with Wal-Mart.
Office / Work Environment
It's a clean environment that's rarely cleaned unless an inspection is coming all the while blaring music that 90% of the workers don't want to deal with have to while trying to concentrate.
They seem to do well here but seeing as positives are often well veiled lies it's hard to know.
Never known of a place that cared less in this area. It's the #1 worst factor. If you ever want to see your family DO NOT work here.
I know hundreds of employees. I can't name one not part of the clique that says they are proud to work for this entity.
Full timers are constantly setup to fail to be replaced with cheap temporary workers.
They're good here.
They do a good job training.
Depends on the job. Some are torture they're so easy and some are fairly challenging. The issue is there's no discrepancy for mistakes in these areas either and little to no increase in pay.
Inclusive / Diverse
Somewhat. Diverse enough to stay out of trouble with laws.
Suggestions for improvement
- Start looking at your workers as the reason you get to have a job and not as an expendable commodity.
What I like about the company
Great 401k and insurance.
What I dislike about the company
Terrible pay. Long hours (12 hr shifts). Buddy system for advances. Can't stay with a plan. Constantly firing loyal employees for Temps. Disrespect to all production workers.
