Suggestions for improvement
- A bigger development team. A smaller management team. A firmer commitment to the mission statement (that is, less spooked by market changes). Better parking!
What I like about the company
The people were motivated and interesting to work with and for, and I thought the products they created were interesting. When it all came together (which it sometimes did) I felt proud of what we'd done.
What I dislike about the company
It is simply over-managed and uncommunicative. There seemed to be an excess of very senior people, all of whom had very different priorities and ideas - and who changed them frequently. This meant work was often shambolic. In addition, staff members ended up often being forced to make executive decisions (we had deadlines to hit) under pressure which then earned the wrath of higher-ups, whose own dithering and/or contradictory signals had created the problem in the first place.
Upper management furthermore had a tendency to panic at the least market tremor and change direction frequently. This made it hard to get anything other than basic maintenance plan. Any improvement to the platform would inevitably be cut short by a panicked lurch as everyone was forced to run to the other end of the boat.
