If the culture is to throw you to the sharks and if you manage to swim to safety hand you your walking papers then the company is great at that. Because the company has regular lay offs those who manage to keep their jobs work in fear, do just a good enough job to not lose it.
Support from management
Leadership sets many unrealistic goals, ask the employees about their profit sharing checks (if there is one to issue). Comes nowhere close to the amount that is offered at time of hire. Goals are the focus for about 3 weeks after they are discussed, then it falls apart.
Everyone is too busy to work together, or feel threatened by your presence so they avoid working together.
The watercooler communicates more efficiently.
Attitude towards older colleagues
Older workers are the last option, and the senior employees are push out the door at every opportunity.
50 hours minimum for salaried employees regardless if there is work.
Old and dilapidated buildings. Machinery is crammed in every space available. Safety prevention is an after thought for the most part.
What I like about the company
The employees are good people.
What I dislike about the company
Too reliant on one customer and that dictates the business.
