Company Culture

You will get no support from management. They are all about stripmining cash from customers and not about what's best for the customer. The culture is vers much "Less thinking, more doing".

Support from management

Is there a word worse than horrible or nonexistent? You've heard of being "Left to the wolves", well imagine being covered in lambs blood and being pushed into the wolves den. Then after all that you will be reprimanded because you didn't pull a miracle off.

Teamwork

Nonexistent. Think CIA operative here. Go do stuff, don't ever call for help and if you're discovered we will disavow any knowledge of your existence. Seriously I would call for help on stuff and would get off the phone with my manager having absolutely zero forward progress and be in the same predicament I was when I called.

Freedom to work independently

As a field tech I didn't have much supervision which is fine I work better under circumstances like that.

Internal Communication

They are pretty good about emailing people, especially if management wants to get you on the phone to yell at you.

Gender Equality

Absolutely. Especially if they know nothing about IT. Seriously they had project managers that couldn't grasp the concept that they can't email a customer because we had the email server down for an upgrade.

Attitude towards older colleagues

The 'career' limit here is about 5 years and they churn engineers out. Unless you're one of the golden children.

Career Development

This place is a stepping stone and nothing more. Get a paycheck, study up for a certification test or 2 and move on. Because they darn sure won't support you in furthering your education.

Overall compensation for your work

It depends on if you are a golden child or not. I found out that I was hired on at a salary only $3k less than my hiring manager that had been there for almost a decade.

Office / Work Environment

I worked in the field but when I did go to the office the Konica Minolta side of the house really seemed to hate the All Covered side.

Environmental Friendliness

Konica Minolta is decent about this i guess.

Work-Life Balance

You can achieve a decent balance here if you manage your calendar properly and push back when you start to get taken advantage of.

Company Image

I would have rather told people I was a janitor for the adult theaters in the back of adult video shops. [Seriously]

Job Security

You're a drone and an expendable one at that.

Handicapped Accessibility

There were elevators in the offices I went into.

Workplace Safety

I worked in the field so I really don't have much of an answer here. But if I had requested something for safety to use at a customer site I'm almost certain it would have been denied.

Challenging Work

They expect you to come up with last minute desperate solutions to impossible problems with no resources. I have a very high standard of work personally and there were times I would not admit to some of the work that I had to do because of lack of proper tools-materials. Seriously I had to leave a switch hanging mid-air by the ethernet cables because I didn't have mounting hardware and a proper rack to mount it in.

Inclusive / Diverse

Do not have any independent thought. Managements ideas and plans are law no matter how bad they are and how much you can prove they will not work. Seriously I have seen this company lose a multi-million dollar customer because a manager was just inept.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Burn the place to the ground.

What I like about the company

The pay checks cleared the bank reliably.

What I dislike about the company

So much just so much. No support [read above]. The 'less thinking more doing' philosophy.

Company Culture

The culture is to bilk the customer as much as possible and strip mine them until they stop paying and fire the company. They pressure engineers to sell equipment to customer that’s not needed. They don’t look out for what’s best for the customer just how much they can bill them for.

Support from management

There is no support. You are totally thrown to the wolves. I can't tell you how many times I reached out to my manager for help in making critical decisions and got off the phone more confused and frustrated than before I called.

Teamwork

There is no team work hardly at all. If you reach out for help most of the time no one will answer their phone and voice mails are almost never returned. Those that can and do help are so spread thin that they’re a scarce resource.

Freedom to work independently

You are basically tossed out to a pool of clients and left to fend for your own.
You only hear from management when it’s something that’s going to make your life more difficult.

Internal Communication

Emails simply go unanswered as to phone calls and voice mails for help or a decision.
I once went 9 weeks without hearing from my manager.

Gender Equality

Women seemed to be equally abused as the males at this company.

Attitude towards older colleagues

I did work with a few older engineers they also received the same amount of abuse that the rest of us did.

Career Development

This is a dead end job. If you just want a paycheck and to eek by on the minimal amount of effort with no career aspirations, then this is the place for you.

Overall compensation for your work

The initial pay is ok I guess. The mileage calculation is unfair to say the least. The raises are terrible, I ‘m talking less than 1% like terrible. Because they go to the chosen few [Golden Boys].

Office / Work Environment

At the customer sites it’s usually not too bad. But the logistical conditions are not good. They schedule you a 1 hour break between customer site visits but there is usually a 45+ minute commute time so lunches are few and far between. I became the master of eating a sandwich on the curb at a gas station.

Environmental Friendliness

They claim to be all about the environment as they are owned by Konica Minolta. But it pretty much stops there.

Work-Life Balance

They did seem to be fairly understanding for needing to take time off on short notice for family emergencies. I never caught a lot of grief for that I will saw. As far as work life balance they will take all your time if you let them. I knew engineers that would put in 10-12 hour days consistently and then spend another 2-4 hours at home in the evenings. Not sure what they were doing. But I never allowed them to abuse me like that. Sure there are those 16+ hour days in IT when something goes wrong and there are those days that start at 0300, and there are the calls at 2300 for emergencies. But all in all they weren’t all that bad.

Company Image

Every employee [with the exception of the managers that were suck ups and the golden children] can’t stand this place. Seriously they all complained about it but it was a pay check and they ended up convinced that they couldn’t go anywhere else. It was depressing and toxic to say the least.

Job Security

The job I had was stable as I was 1 of 2 engineers in an entire territory. I never heard of anyone getting fired, probably because the bar was so low. They are truly the bottom of the barrel.

Handicapped Accessibility

The offices I went to yes they did. But then again I was a field tech and spent 99% of my time at customer physical sites.

Workplace Safety

I wasn’t never given any real safety training while here.

Challenging Work

The only thing challenging was the fact that they use SonicWall equipment, and they are unnecessarily complex with a UI that is just horrible. Other than that you’re wiping noses and changing diapers.

Inclusive / Diverse

Absolutely not. They only want input from their management that are company men that drank the Kool Aid or the 1-2 Golden Boys that for some reason are the chosen few.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Just shut it down and let everyone get jobs that weren't terrible.

What I like about the company

The pay checks cleared the bank. The calendar was exploitable.

What I dislike about the company

Management, policy, internal processes. Just so much to list, really there was just too much to list.
