The company culture is okay, it just seems that it's more focused on money than patients
Support from management
My manager is very supportive, but doesn't really do anything to the people who don't do any work
They encourage that, but they don't care if you don't get along or if people aren't doing their share. There are no consequences for that.
Freedom to work independently
My supervisor trusts us very much to work independently
They say they care about the employees, but more could definitely be done to show that.
All of my supervisors are women.
Attitude towards older colleagues
All of my supervisors are women older than me.
In my area there is not much growth. I would have to transfer to a different area of the hospital.
Overall compensation for your work
I am paid pretty well but next year minimum wage at the hospital will go up and new employees will be making the same as those of us who have been there for some time.
Office / Work Environment
It does but when I have to stand all day my back hurts.
We do no recycle
I don't have much time for my family and when I do, I'm exhausted.
I enjoy working with patients and feeling like I'm making their day better
All of our buildings are handicap accessible.
Our safety officer is very proactive
It's very difficult and we are required to learn new things on a regular basis because things are constantly changing.
Inclusive / Diverse
They will listen to your opinions and are easy to talk to, but usually nothing changes.
Suggestions for improvement
- I would improve management and make it mandatory that there are consequences for people not doing their jobs. I would keep track and regularly look at statistics, making sure everyone was doing the job that they are assigned to and give warnings to those who are not. Motivate them somehow to work harder. Raises would not be given if employees were not pulling their weight. I would listen better when employees come to me with complaints, and come up with a way to act on a solution.
What I like about the company
I work with cancer patients and they appreciate that they get to see the same smiling faces when they come in for treatment. It makes them feel less scared and more secure. We are there for them. We know what they are going through. We know they don't always have good days and we support them as much as we can. The company treats us well but I think compensation and manager support could be better. We don't all get along because some don't do their jobs or pull their weight. Nothing is done when you go to management about the problems. They listen, but they don't act. It's frustrating.
What I dislike about the company
I disapprove of the way management handles things. When employees don't pull their weight or do their jobs, there should be consequences. They continue to under preform because they know there are no consequences and nothing will be done about it, so why should they step it up? Those of us that care about policy and procedure are stuck doing more work because we want to make sure things get done.
