Support from management
Mostly. At the time of my employment I was pregnant and towards the end I was having difficulties with a couple of regular patients, but was still required to transport them despite there being other employees available.
This was an ambulance company, so working together was essential.
Freedom to work independently
My position was fairly independent.
I'd say this was average.
There were just as many female employees and there were male, both in entry level positions and management.
Attitude towards older colleagues
I never saw where this was an issue.
There were plenty of opportunities for advancement if one were willing to go through the proper training and schooling for certifications.
Overall compensation for your work
Compensation was definitely fair, and insurance was provided for full time employees.
Office / Work Environment
Mostly, my position required driving to locations to pick patients up, and I felt they should have provided GPS to employees. You were on your own with finding your way to locations.
I don't believe this was an issue that ever came up.
I worked the same schedule every week. Overtime was available if desired, but not required.
I enjoyed my position here and made a decent wage.
There was always work to do, insurance was provided, and the wage was decent for the job performed.
I'm rather neutral on this. The workplace wasn't not handicap accessible, but there also weren't specific resources/modifications made to the facility.
You were entrusted with the care of medical patients, so safety was very important.
I had a fairly easy position transporting wheelchair patients.
Inclusive / Diverse
Opinions and suggestions were generally welcomed and considered as well.
Suggestions for improvement
- In regards to my particular position I don't really have anything to suggest. It has been many years since I have worked here, so I can't recall anything specific that may have needed improvement.
What I like about the company
I enjoyed working for this company. When my original location ceased operations, I was given the opportunity to transfer to another location. Had a not gone on maternity leave and then chosen to stay home with my daughter I probably would have continued working there.
What I dislike about the company
Nothing in particular stands out. There were a couple of members of higher management who were a bit unpleasant, but everyone mostly got along well.
