- Allegiance Health Management - Shreveport, La22.Apr 2019
Terrible company to work for. Low pay, poor benefits, corporate does not value employees, overcrowded office space, patients are often overbooked but therapists are still required to see them even if time does not permit, and management frequently asks staff to participate in unethical behavior
Support from management
Not at all. Management barely provides supplies and equipment. Staff has even been asked to provide snacks for the patients
Program Director is very devisive. Often putting the non-professional staff members against the professional staff. Program Director also is evasive and non-direct, doesn't listen to employee suggestions or complaints and frequently talks over employees or walks away from them with no response.
Freedom to work independently
Employees often feen micromanaged
Never praise only criticism.
No, the female program director allows male staff more privileges. Male staff does not have to help clean up after groups are done and they are allowed to submit work late.
Attitude towards older colleagues
Not really, tends to excuse poor behavior of younger staff due to their youth, yet the youngest employees is around 35.
None. This is a very stagnant dead end job
Overall compensation for your work
The average salary of an LPC/LCSW in Mississippi is approximately $65,000 annually. Allegiance pays $40,000 annually and they have not provided a raise in the past 4 years that I have been employed
Office / Work Environment
Not at all. Group rooms are too small and should never have more than 10 patients per Medicare regulations but frequently we are forced to have 12-15 patients per room and asked to write individual notes rather than group notes on these patients even without doing an actual individual session. Office space is overcrowded, 5-7 therapists crowded into one small office sharing 5 computers.
No. Uses plastic and overuse of copy paper. Does not recycle
Terrible. Therapists are always the last to leave each day, sometimes not until 7 PM in the evening. Very limited time off, management often denies vacation due to lack of coverage and even harasses employees if they call in sick
I'm looking for another job. This company does not value its employees and they recently cut positions with no notice and people who change positions are treated as a new hire even if they have over five years with the company. Employees are asked to commit fraud on a daily basis.
Not at all. They recently cut positions and terminated people with no notice because those positions were no longer required by Medicare for billing purposes
Yes because most of their patients have some type of disability including many wheelchair bound and walker using patients
They do provide CPR and CPI training as well as other safety in service sessions but none of these are adequate.
Mental health therapist working with seriously mentally I'll people is always challenging.
Inclusive / Diverse
No. It's the program director's way or no way.
Suggestions for improvement
- Increasing salaries and improving benefits would greatly improve workplace morale. Better communication between staff and corporate officials. Closed on holidays to allow staff to spend time with family. Paid continuing education including conference fees, mileage and hotels since we are required to maintain current.
What I like about the company
The patients and some of my coworkers are the only positives.
What I dislike about the company
They overbook patients, overcrowded office space with limited access to supplies and equipment, very minimal time off allowed, no holidays, closed only on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day, no real health insurance (it is employer paid thru a 3rd party), poor management, company frequently does not pay its vendors (food, office suppliers, bus maintenance and doctors), company can terminate positions without notice but requires 30 notice from employees or their final check is forfeited, management is not accessible to staff, staff is told they cannot contact corporate office for any reason even if local management is not responsive to employee concerns, local management is frequently vindictive towards employees and does not take employee concerns seriously, employees are often asked to contribute money to buy game prizes or contribute other goods for patient prizes, therapists are asked to clean group rooms, dining room and other areas of the building, high workload, low pay, and poor benefits.
