The culture here? They claim to be a "family" but they're 2-tiered. The office employees are treated like rich & famous, while the shop employees are treated like peasants. When yearly reviews come, they'll remind you that reviews don't correlate to raises and when raises DO come (once ever few years) it's 25¢ or 30¢ per hour...then they tell you how lucky you are that they're willing to employ you. Very demeaning place to work, in all honesty.
Support from management
Management has a very negative attitude. I've seen lots of people get screamed and cursed at for things beyond their control, and you're expected to be a pro after almost no training
They'd rather waste time sending things department to department and pointing fingers when they find mistakes, rather than trying to work together as s a team.
Freedom to work independently
Depends on department.
Office / Work Environment
Office employees are royalty...the workers in the shop are peasants
They claim to be a green company, yet they waste so much. They'll wrap an item in plastic and/or paper just to send it across the parking lot to the next building, where they remove and throw away.
Company comes first. They'll pay you so low you need a second job to survive, yet they'll get upset if they want spontaneous OT and you're scheduled at the second job...if you have a loved one whose sick and needs you to care for them, forget it, you gotta pick the company first.
Suggestions for improvement
- Management all the way to the owner needs training on how to treat employees...
What I like about the company
I spent a decade there and after a bit it did feel like home, because I was used to coming back every day, but honestly, I couldn't be happier since I left.
What I dislike about the company
The way they run the place is like a work camp, 2 minute warning buzzer before work, buzzer at start and you better be working. Same goes for breaks. And if they see you go to the bathroom 2 days in a row, they're on your case about it.
