Company Culture

At first, was very delighted but after a few months saw things no different than the next company.

Support from management

Leadership in many cases was the buddy, buddy system. You do bad, and your higher up buddy would cover for you. Not Right. Not dependable to help you work through a crisis.

Teamwork

As a team we did well, but occassionally there was that rotten apple in the bunch that did not tow the line helping to catarrh the load. Upper management at times would see this and did nothing.

Freedom to work independently

On par for the course

Internal Communication

In our work group it was pretty good, but passing along to upper management, was a waste many times. It came down to who you know and how good they appreciated your efforts which many times were self serving to the upper management covering their backsides. Sad but true.

Gender Equality

When talking race, was never a factor. When talking being fair to everyone getting an equal chance, not good at all. Again it came down to just who you knew.

Attitude towards older colleagues

Never saw too much of an issue there in our department except one time where an (much) older co-worker was let go for saying there was not enough work only to have the position filled by a younger friend of the department supervisor. Sad but true.

Overall compensation for your work

Benefits were on the norm for most employers doing the same work. As for compensation, doing most anything on your own time brought little in compensation including during your annual evaluation.

Office / Work Environment

Very good in many cases for the most part, but there were times we got the short end of the stick, even though our quality and production leveled suffered.

Environmental Friendliness

Average

Work-Life Balance

Dedicating hours on a project on your own time proved little to get notice. Doing something you really believe in and in hopes putting the company in a better light got very little recognition and it showed on most anyone's evaluation getting much of any increase in pay or promotion. Better to have spent the time with family and friends.

Company Image

Company displayed a pretty good image for the most part with its customers with an occasional issue here or there.

Job Security

No such thing. Have seen a few dismissed for very petty things and others close to upper management get by messing up badly to get Slap on the wrist.

Handicapped Accessibility

Workplace Safety

My only 5 Star rating. The company was very safety conscious and for the moat part played by the rules. Never did I witness any short comings.

Challenging Work

Many times it was challenging dealing with department managers who have no idea in how we do our work, but they feel are educated enough to make better decisions.

Inclusive / Diverse

Very little opportunity was presented to prove how diverse you could be in other areas. This was pointed out during the hiring process they would be open to, however they chose to never allow it with many in the work force unless you were in the buddy buddy group with upper management.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Get rid of some upper management /department managers. Some felt they were God when it came down to knowing what they could do in controlling you beyond being a well respected leader as one would hope.

What I like about the company

Made some good friends and most times enjoyed the work coming across my desk.

What I dislike about the company

Upper management had a buddy, buddy systems which let a number of employees coming late and leave early. Perks were in use at times for them as well. Always had to watch your back which provided stress in the work place.
