Volatile workplace. Better be very knowledgeable, confident, and thick-skinned to do well here.
Support from management
There is very little structure in place for employees. You are expected to simply "know" what you need to without it ever being mentioned verbally or in writing. Annual reviews are pretty nonexistent a d unsupportive.
Amongst the Paralegals and support staff great teamwork.
In terms of communication to employees, often it is negative in tone. However, the partners are open to suggestions that are well thought out and comprehensive.
Overall compensation for your work
Great benefits. However, salary was lower than what would have been desired. But for this industry about on par from what I'm told.
Office / Work Environment
It can get a little cold, in the winter. But generally great working conditions overall.
Suggestions for improvement
- Reduce some policies and procedures to paper. Perhaps allow time for those who are actually performing the procedures to formulate the procedures because they know how to do it. Allow employees to contribute so that they also have an investment in the company instead of solely looking at them as a billing center.
What I like about the company
I learned a lot - some of the attorneys were willing to really teach and listen when I had something to share. They also offered praise
What I dislike about the company
No policies or procedures in written format to fall back on when attorneys are otherwise engaged and unavailable for clarity. Inadequate orientation procedures. As a result, communication towards some employees are negative in tone. Tolerance for bad behavior or work performance that is subpar and expects new people to magically fix it and fit in without issues.
