Suggestions for improvement

  • I would put more focus on flexibility and absence policy,being more understanding that life happens. Especially if the employees are honest and forthcoming about their situation.

What I like about the company

I had to deploy to the middle east after 9/11 and they kept my seniority and benefits going, all while checking on my family. Upon my return, I went back to work without missing a beat. They also gave me time to integrate back into the job without any pressure or rushing to do the job. While I was gone, my family still had flight privileges just as if I were still there and working. I even received my pay raises as if I were there.

What I dislike about the company

I do believe that they could be a lot better at what they pay starting the job and lower the snap to max.

Company Culture

The overall culture “everyone wants to be treated equally;” but due to the inconsistency in PHL, it would have to take an act of God to truly turn that environment around.

Support from management

If your direct report doesn’t like you and you’re always cleaning up h/her mess or better yet revealing h/her mistake (not intentionally), you become the issue. From a Director perspective, you can have multiple conversations and keep a trail of all communication, at the end there’s no support and he doesn’t even reach out to you and direct report to determine what is the problem and how can this be fixed. Basically, if you’re black and they are white, the color becomes unemployed.

Teamwork

Teamwork is an collaboration effort. This wasn’t the case. You had to be a part of click or a favorite no matter how much you kept everyone is the loop. Together everyone achieve more which is the concept, but that isn’t. A member will harass and set your peers against you in order to get rid of you.

Freedom to work independently

That is not the case, especially when you have a manager (L5) who wants to micro-manage or everything and when she fails, it’s your fault.

Internal Communication

Directors and L5’s stress the importance of communication, but themselves levels key managers out of the loop.

Totally not equal at all.

I have respect for all regardless if you dislike me or not. Even if you offended me, I still speak, but it’s not receptive.

There’s room for growth, but it all depends relationship developed verses performance.

Overall compensation for your work

With the knowledge of the overall department and doing/training employees as well as mentoring managers, the pay wasn’t equal when it comes to L5 who doesn’t know the functionality of each area.

Office / Work Environment

Very much disrespectful and full of tension amongst managers. If you of colored, the whites are allowed to curse, point their finger in your face in the present of (L5) and it all acceptable. However, you’re the one that is falsely accused of cursing.

Work-Life Balance

This was great for me because I had the ability to shift adjust rather than taking a full day or COMP my extra hours. This allowed me the opportunity to still manage my family lifestyle, especially medical situations while having no worries about the possibility of being unemployed without medical coverage.

Company Image

From the higher leadership, new direction; however, that’s not case for PHL. There concept is to keep the white people who knows more about them or their secrets.

Job Security

That dream was once upon a time a long ago!

Yes and no, but the company gives you a hard way to go when returning on medical accommodations.

Workplace Safety

Very concerning, especially when managers are issuing discipline and make comments that offend the employee without listening to their circumstances. It’s put the company and new L5 manager on the edge when the employee circumstances is disclosed union member when no discipline is officially given.

Challenging Work

Out of my department, I would be the only one that takes on the challenge assignments and employees. But you have to be careful, when it comes to an employee who is very difficult, yet is back by a L5.

very diverse company that not only put its customers first but also its employees.

Great . I never really had to deal with them except when I got hurt in canada while working i was put up in the best hotel and treated like a queen
