Suggestions for improvement

  • I do not think I would change anything other than the ability for anyone who wanted to be able to work from home to do so unless they are not performing to expectations.

What I like about the company

I have had many opportunities for training and class learning. The company also provides tuition reimbursement for outside education as well.

What I dislike about the company

Some of the departments have access to work from home positions but mine does not.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Re-bid dining services -- the current vendor does not seem to be making significant efforts to improve quality of food, reduce prices, or do anything else to improve services. The I.T. department needs to re-examine its structure and practices, more enthusiastically adopt ITIL, and improve/modify DevOps practices and see them as a logical extension of ITSM, not a separate process. Indeed, I.T. practices in general need to be less "siloed" and more integrated. The pace of change an innovation is causing stress on IT services and infrastructure and leading to service degradation or outages; management needs to better understand the relationship between pace of change and service disruptions and understand that in order to improve system stability, the pace of change may need to slow. IT management needs to stop "shooting the messenger" -- ITSM is largely responsible for communicating and ensuring restoration of service disruptions, but they are not causing them. Less "siloed" IT departments, or better collaboration, with a DevOps process/culture growing organically out of Change and Release Management and Service Level Management, would improve processes.

What I like about the company

Most personnel is honest and demonstrates good teamwork. Company is generally appreciative of personnel and their service. Company holds a picnic each year. Different divisions/departments hold team building activities. Company offers competitive pay and good benefits, on-site cafeteria and convenience stores, and employee discounts/perks in the area as well as through national retailers and service providers.
