Every upper management person I worked with did not manage. They berated, back stabbed, and harrased everyone under them in their "team".
Support from management
You will be on your own, and because you cannot read minds you will be disciplined when you do what they tell you to do in a different way than how they expected it done.
Your local team will have to work together, especially to dodge the misery that is the Vegas office management team.
Freedom to work independently
you will have to work from a home office, you will see a manager once every 2 months to tell you what you are doing wrong. Oh, and the weekly calls will require hours of prep. send photos, back up, pre-meeting issues to go over.
There is no communication. Make sure and do everything by email to CYA. Also, have the email go to your phone account as well. AH4R removes all emails in your account after 6 months, so being able to go back to your email to defend against the inevitable storm your VP dumps on you will be difficult.
Attitude towards older colleagues
The more experience you have the more you are a threat to your manager and he/she will try to take you out. You are a threat, not a tool.
Every upper management person I worked with did not manage. They berated, back stabbed, and harrased everyone under them in their "team". You are a threat, not a tool in their eyes.
Overall compensation for your work
They will low ball you with the promise of a bonus structure that will get you the amount you need to survive. Guess what, your manager has control over the bonuses. if he/she doesn't fell you have earned the bonus. you will not get it. ALso, AH4R is still way behind in personnel needed to get projects running as promised. you will wait a long time for the bonuses tied to production.
Office / Work Environment
my office was my home. They will push back on office materials, such as printer, paper and even your phone bill, but it is cheaper than providing a real office so..
you will spend 4-8 hours a week proving through emails, photos, email rebuttals and updating daily the tracking software they never review anyway that you are doing your job that takes 40+ hours a week to do.
lot's of concerned neighbors show up when they see the community they live in or next to them going rental.
They will fire you if they want to change the plan. No layoff if you are no longer needed. They will fire you.
They work is great. challenging, and rewarding. Just don't try to get things done your way, or think for yourself. It will be your ticket out of AH4R.
Inclusive / Diverse
lots of diversity.
Suggestions for improvement
- get rid of the VP's. Their only goal is to keep their high -paying job, not helping their team succeed so they can keep that high-paying job. The blame is always directed downward. They do not take responsibility for their bad decisions and will set up the team they manage for the fall, and to fail.
What I dislike about the company
They hired me with the tale of 6 house closings a month and a bonus tied to each house. After a year of misery dealing with all the issues caused by the VP of finance, not one house of only 16 in the entire area has completed. They promise all sorts of exciting visions. They can't hit a goal to save their life.
