Support from management
Time & money wasted with workshops even though the decision had already been made to eliminate most of those workers. Layoffs to employees immediately following excellent job reviews & performance awards. It became obvious that hard work was not rewarded and management already had a direction planned that they were hiding from employees.
Suggestions for improvement
- Reward hard work and creativity with job security. Stop lying to employees. Ex: Upper management REPEATEDLY held meetings promising workers that the layoffs were over only to let go another 10-30 employees immediately after. They also rewrote the benefits package so they would not have to honor the original, long-standing benefits promised to many of those they let go.
What I like about the company
AIP USED TO BE an excellent place to work. There were employee appreciation events, on site day care, rewards for exceptional work, and a hard worker knew they had a job for life. Upper management changed, the extras disappeared, whole departments were eliminated and work was outsourced, tremendous amounts of money was spent on expensive custom computer programs that were abandoned after a relatively short period of time, while workers were laid off because of "lower profits." Expensive office furniture was purchased along with a costly redesign of the office space even though they moved soon after.
What I dislike about the company
They took advantage of the workers knowing they were going to let them go. They then created new job titles and hired higher-paid foreign workers to do the same job long time employees had been doing and then eliminated the original position along with the employee.
