Meh. We were a 90+% female company... the women I worked with took business into their own hands and didn't need any crutches.
ALSC was an awesome secret. We always compared ourselves to Ideal Image, who benefited from public capital but had awful identity, from a service perspective. Though ultimately, the extensive capital won out.
We were a turnaround, and therefore a high risk. Ultimately, though we were beating industry benchmarks, we weren't growing fast enough for our PE owners and ended up dissolved.
Inclusive / Diverse
Diversity is strange, when you are a male working in the beauty industry. With 90+% female employment, diversity isn't your top concern, and doesn't reflect your consumer markets.
What I like about the company
The passion for our business and the love between colleagues from department to department was greater than I have observed before in my career.
What I dislike about the company
We were a private equity turnaround... so our measures, while reasonable from an investor perspective, did not reflect the Herculean efforts of individual performers to turn around the company. And though we ultimately did begin that turnaround, it was not fast enough for the private equity mutual funds, and we had to dissolve the business.
